| ![]() Congratulations!! I'm 11 years smoke free and what I always kept in mind was the hell I went through to quit. I never want to go through that again. I'm sure you are with me on that one. Make sure you celebrate...treat yourself to something special. You deserve it!!

| ![]() Congratulations Lori!! ![]() My one year anniversary was July 12th! I too love being smoke free. I had the habit for over 30 years and quit with the help of Chantix. I actually don't even have cravings or anything. Was around a smoker today and the smell just made me sick. ![]()

| ![]() Congrats!!! Im planning on quitting again on our closing day for me and my husbands first house were buying! Thats in about 2 weeks. I quit once before for 6 months, but started again after some traumatic things in my life a few months ago. But Im ready to quit again. I figure the first day in our new house will be like a new beginning for me. Its somewhere Ive never smoked, so I wont associate it with smoking. Plus, I will be busy painting, so I dont want to be out of breath. My husband is very supportive of this, and doesnt smoke. We agreed, as an incentive, that after my first 30 days of quitting, we can get that new whirlpool tub Ive always wanted!!! On the other hand, I also have an unspoken incentive. Cigarettes are taking the life of my favorite aunt. She has terminal lung cancer with 4 tumors in her brain. She maybe has a month or so to live. Its hard to see her suffer like this, and I dont want that to be me in 20 years. She is only 49. Besides the usual reasons, what kept you going when things got hard and you were tempted? I dont want to be controlled by cigarettes anymore.

| ![]() Lori that is sooo wonderful!!!.....I bet you can taste and smell things better! lol.....I found some of the benefits you are getting.....You go girl!!!! Within ... # 20 minutes Your blood pressure, pulse rate, and the temperature of your hands and feet will all return to normal. # 12 hours Your blood oxygen level will have increased to normal and carbon monoxide levels will have dropped to normal. # 48 hours Damaged nerve endings have started to regrow and your sense of smell and taste are beginning to return to normal. # 72 hours Your entire body will test 100% nicotine-free and over 90% of all nicotine metabolites will now have passed from your body via your urine. You can also expect the symptoms of chemical withdrawal to have peaked in intensity. Your bronchial tubes are beginning to relax thus making it easier to breathe. Your lung capacity has also started to increase. # 10 days to 2 weeks Your body has physically adjusted to again functioning without nicotine and the more than 3,500 chemical particles and 500 gases present in each and every puff. # 2 weeks to 3 months Your heart attack risk has started to drop. Your lung function is beginning to improve. # 3 weeks to 3 months Your circulation has substantially improved. Walking has become easier. Your chronic cough, if any, has likely disappeared. # 1 to 9 months Any smoking related sinus congestion, fatigue or shortness of breath have decreased. Cilia have regrown in your lungs thereby increasing their ability to handle mucus, keep your lungs clean, and reduce infections. Your body's overall energy has increased. # 1 year Your excess risk of coronary heart disease has dropped to less than half that of a smoker. # 5 to 15 years Your risk of stroke has declined to that of a non-smoker
