Either way, Dena has been doing a phenominal job of keeping us updated. She'll let us know if Emma has a dr's appointment when she has free time.

Sorry if I may come off as defensive or just plain mean, but some of the comments that have been posted lately have been cold hearted. I just don't want mean people making Dena feel bad again. She has better things to think about.
I think everyone just has concerns. You can trust me that some people know alot more and alot more could be said and they are not.

Actually, Dena does have an antibiotic that she is putting on the wound. I have been reading this thread intensely and know that she is dripping the antibiotic into the wound. If you care to go back and search this thread you will find it.

There is nothing more that the vets can do for her at this point. She is tending the wound and taking excellent care of the pup. 24/7 She has been very good about allowing all of us to participate in the events as they happen. I am thankful for that.

As to the other stuff, I will tell you frankly that I offered to send her money right in the very beginning and she turned me down. This is something I would never have mentioned except that it is being 'referred' to as a possible untoward thing going on. It is not. If it were, she would have said yes immediately. It was some of us Yorkie Talkers that talked her into it.

I believe that it is best to build someone up when they are working so hard on an already discouraging situation. I suppose it is up to the individual to decide if they will build up or beat down. Personally, I will be deliriously happy when this pup is running around and waggin it's little tail and giving and gettin love. Like Breny's beautiful little Chi. I saw that baby and I just adored the whole movie of it. Her heart is clearly revealed in her voice while she is talking to it on that video. All I can say is BRAVO!!

I am thankful Breny had what it took to do what was needful. I think Dena does too. I also think this is why they ended up with these pups. **SOMEONE** knew their hearts and their stamina and their willingness to put something (pup) before their own desires and comforts.

A big Heartfelt THANK YOU to both Breny and Dena!

I'm sure very many people offered to help her out of the goodness of their hearts, just as they did in December. If there is one thing that I know, it is that YT is full of caring people who will do whatever they can to help someone when they need it.

This is something I've been wondering about too. Hope she's doing well.

Thanks Sammiz for an excellent post!!! I knew Dena was doing she could to help keep Baby Emma out of harms way, I just couldn't remember all the details. You're right that people like Dena and Breny have big hearts, and they are lucky that they can share their experiences.
Here's praying for Baby Emma's continued success!!

Putting the antibotic INTO the cleft is sending it into the puppies lungs. That is why cleft puppies aspirate on milk...it goes UP the cleft into their lungs and/or out their noses.

The antibotic needs to administered orally. The puppy received no colostrum from the mother to protect it against infections...this would apply whether puppy had a cleft or not. No mother's milk. The colostrum in the mother's milk provides them with needed anti bodies. Add to this equation...with her open wounds and this risk probably increases.

I would venture since she is on formula...she may also require supplements.

Yes Breny took excellent care of her dog. The difference here is...Breny's dog did not require surgery as a medical intervention for her cleft.

I really do not understand why there is objections to suggestions that Emma receive on going veterinary care. I truly don't.

I remember reading a few posts back that Emma's vet is out of town for a week. I'm sure he will be seeing Emma as soon as he gets back.

I can see for myself what is going on here. I know everything that you or anyone else does. Personally, I am not into 'diggin' up bones' in this situation. I can see it for myself.

This I know....I have been both used and abused in past attempts to help folks. Some endeavors were a lot more expensive that others. The last one cost me thousands. Eveb so, I am not a foolish person. I do know the dangers that exist. However, I hope that this heart of mine never becomes too bitter to be willing to help someone who so obviously needs it. These images tell me the whole story. They cannot be manufactured.

No. I have no interest in 'digginup bones'. I have made my own decision and this is nothing that will affect anyone but me. I actually do not desire to be swayed in another direction. I pray for direction and then go. It's the way I live my life. There are bound to be pitfalls here and there. I do not believe this to be one, but if it is....what are the chances that I could gain much more than I have lost? Tremendous in my opinion.

That is a very positive and noble outlook to have. If you feel in life that you make decisions that YOU are happy with, then isn't that all that matters? But can you assure that everyone always has the same information that you do? No. I don't think that by being wary of issues we face in life, that makes us bitter and I don't think that it makes anyone foolish or uncaring or concerned. It just makes us cautious.

No it doesn't send it into the babies lungs. There is no nasal passage on that side. Read it. The information is all there.

Since Emma went to the vet right away, I believe that Dena is seeing to her care responsibly. Until I see her post that she will not take the pup to the vet, since she did it right in the beginning, I am sure she will continue.

Why should this thread be CLOSED? If you dont like what is being discussed then do not participate. No one is forcing you to check in...

Some of us however, check in on a regular basis because we are concerned about Emma. She is, after all, the reason this thread was started and I hope to be able to follow her story and see her thrive.

It is unfortunate that this is what hapened BUT not everyone comes in here looking for controversy... Why is Dena NOT ALLOWED to share with others what she is going through?? Im sure all the kind words and prayers in the first few days really helped her out and kept her going...

Dena... if you are still readin these posts.. please dont give up on YT. Many of us really do care about this baby and would love to keep getting updates.
