| ![]() Be very carefull here you are in the middle of a divorce, if you leave the house he can claim you abandoned him, the laws are different in all states but I would check with a lawyer before you do anything. |

I recently did what you're doing - (only my husband died) ![]() I'm not used to it yet but coping. I wish you all the best and you got a great deal !! I pay that for a one Bedroom here in houston and I'm not in the best part of town but AM close to my job. Tiggerwit's right - it's a big change. I feel really lucky cause I did find a downstairs place WITH a back patio in a nice courtyard - but it's still an adjustment - I think if I had free rent - a home with a yard Id have stayed but then again - NO commuting is also a BIG PLUS - so congratulations - I hope your move goes well...It is kind of nice to look around and say this is all mine and you don't have to spend hours driving to work - cleaning and mowing grass | |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() LOL - Me too -but I weighed it against walking up and down stairs with the girls and them having no place to hang out when I'm home - vs - having a fenced in patio and them being able to step outside if they need to 'go' the patio won. This weekend I hope to get a canopy for it - I have indoor outdoor carpet down and can open my back door... and they can out they go in the mornings and night even though we go on 2 walks a day but - that's the reason I chose the bottom floor. But you were so right talking about what a hassle it is having pets and moving from a house to an apartment - walks are STRESSING ME OUT - I worry so much that something is going to happen and it has - 3 times. Lucky for us - we had a good ending but man - it only takes a second .... I MISS THEIR YARD and they do too. ![]() |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | ![]() I say get him to move out. The house is paid and it was your moms so your entitled to that house. You can easily change it up and make it a fresh start in your new single life ( a coat of paint goes a long way). But if you feel like the new place is a better situation for you then go for it. Maybe sell the house and sock away the money for a rainy day or for when you decide to buy again. I know owning a house is a lot of work but I find it worth it because after all the sweat and bills you own something vs paying someone elses mortgage. Property is a nice investment for when we get older. You figure there is no note on it so the gas cost will still be less than paying for the new apt.

My little Shadow Donating YT Member | ![]() My daughter is 25 (we are really close) and from the many talks w/her, I had a sneaky suspicion that this was the decision you wanted deep in yr heart. What makes me really happy for you is that you have your Mom's understanding & backing you up on your decision. ![]() ![]() ![]() I wish you all the best in this exciting new venture!

| ![]() I completely understand your reasons for moving. My situation was a little similar. When I moved from Virginia to Florida I left a home I spent my childhood years in. It had a lot of memories but no matter how much renovating and updating I did it still felt like my childhood home. Now that I'm settled in Florida I have my own home and it feels like mine, you know? ![]() Good luck in your home and job. I'm sure you will do well. Sometimes a new place is very refreshing and it's like starting a new chapter in life. ![]()
