GOOD LUCK ! I was going to say if the commute etc was a wear on you then go for it - but then I saw Free rent in your house and that would have been a big decision for me too - I don't know if I could have made the decision to move if I lived rent free....the bills add up FAST.
I recently did what you're doing - (only my husband died)
and let me tell you - apartment life is SO different than living in a house with a yard.
I'm not used to it yet but coping. I wish you all the best and you got a great deal !! I pay that for a one Bedroom here in houston and I'm not in the best part of town but AM close to my job.
Tiggerwit's right - it's a big change. I feel really lucky cause I did find a downstairs place WITH a back patio in a nice courtyard - but it's still an adjustment - I think if I had free rent - a home with a yard Id have stayed but then again - NO commuting is also a BIG PLUS - so congratulations - I hope your move goes well...It is kind of nice to look around and say this is all mine and you don't have to spend hours driving to work - cleaning and mowing grass
