I completely understand your reasons for moving. My situation was a little similar. When I moved from Virginia to Florida I left a home I spent my childhood years in. It had a lot of memories but no matter how much renovating and updating I did it still felt like my childhood home. Now that I'm settled in Florida I have my own home and it feels like mine, you know?
