Yorkie Lover Donating Member | Fran42478 - - I know exactly what you mean...I used to work out all the time, but now with the girls I don't like going to the gym because that takes away time from them...so I am trying to now find things to do at home... I am going to have to try both of this, they both sound like they would work...I haven't worked out in over a year and am finally getting that itch again!!!

| There are a number of ab exercises that can be done. But first and foremost...your diet must be good. After that, your physical activity. I can't elaborate too much on this...as this post could end up being extremely long. However, directly answering your question...there are a few exercises you can do. Click on this link. http://www.thetrainingstationinc.com/ab-exercises.html The first row (from left to right) is excellent for beginners. No equipment necessary. The second row is a bit more problematic w/ some people because of the use of machines. However, you can still do the Ball crunch. Since it is still summer, all of the fitness magazines have ab routines right now. Pick up a copy and look at the exercises. This is especially true for the men's fitness magazines. In fact, for men and women,...I recommend picking up a copy of Muscle & Fitness. It is a great magazine. Lots of photos and descriptions. Very general overview on the "sport" of bodybuilding. Just don't let the word "bodybuilding" deter you from picking up a great magazine. It may be geared for the more serious individual, BUT the information in there is invaluable and it works. Sure we're not necessarily bodybuilders and that is not necessarily our intention, but the routines work. Also, Muscle & Fitness has released a sistser publication (for women) called Muscle & Fitness HERS. Here is a great company to purchase products from. My gym purchases from them and I will be placing an order w/ them shortly. http://www.power-systems.com/Fitness...s/default.aspx (I made a link directly to the abdominal section for you). Good luck. Send me a PM if you have any questions regarding diet, exercises, etc. |

| Please don't become discouraged if you see results...and then those results seem to die down. Basically, you have to change your routine at this point. Our bodies are incredible machines and "it" adapts quickly to what you're doing. It learns what you tell it to do and over time becomes more efficient at it. Therefore you have to change your routine a bit in order to "trick" your body. Try different exercises, different angles, different amounts of resistance, etc. That is how your muscles will grow and you will continue to see results. Good luck. |

I was pursuing a personal training career at one point,...about 8 years ago. But I quickly realized that while I was knowledgeable and knew what I was doing...to make "working out" my job...my own personal enjoyment was lessened. So I decided not to make it a career. It is my hobby, and will remain that way. I can give some nutritional advice. But the best thing to do, is to take a nutrition course at a local community college. That was very beneficial for me...as it gave me an idea of proper food portions, not the overly large portions you see at restaurants. I will post some basic recipes if you would like. (Muscle and Fitness is great about posting healthy recipes). Here are some tips to start off on: 1) Cut off the soda. 2) If you have coffee, have it black. No cream. No sugar. Coffee itself has some fat burning properties. Tea does too. (That means, no Starbucks Frappucinos) 3) Use Mrs. Dash instead of salt. 4) If possible, choose red tomato based sauces. No cream sauces. 5) Avoid fast food. If you must, choose a grilled chicken burger w/ no mayo. 6) Use salsa to add flavor. 7) Avoid cheese. While a great source of protein, it is also high in fat. 8) Eat fish. Fish is great for protein and has "good" fats. 9) Keep red meat to a minimum. While it is a great source of protein, it is also higher in fat compared to white meats such as chicken, turkey, pork, etc. 10) Eat complex carbs such as oatmeal. It'll take longer for your stomach to break it down, giving you a "fuller" feeling longer. That, and your energy level will last longer. Your blood sugar will be more stable. I've got too much stuff to say some times... | |
