I was pursuing a personal training career at one point,...about 8 years ago. But I quickly realized that while I was knowledgeable and knew what I was doing...to make "working out" my job...my own personal enjoyment was lessened.
So I decided not to make it a career. It is my hobby, and will remain that way.
I can give some nutritional advice. But the best thing to do, is to take a nutrition course at a local community college. That was very beneficial for me...as it gave me an idea of proper food portions, not the overly large portions you see at restaurants.
I will post some basic recipes if you would like. (Muscle and Fitness is great about posting healthy recipes).
Here are some tips to start off on:
1) Cut off the soda.
2) If you have coffee, have it black. No cream. No sugar. Coffee itself has some fat burning properties. Tea does too. (That means, no Starbucks Frappucinos)
3) Use Mrs. Dash instead of salt.
4) If possible, choose red tomato based sauces. No cream sauces.
5) Avoid fast food. If you must, choose a grilled chicken burger w/ no mayo.
6) Use salsa to add flavor.
7) Avoid cheese. While a great source of protein, it is also high in fat.
8) Eat fish. Fish is great for protein and has "good" fats.
9) Keep red meat to a minimum. While it is a great source of protein, it is also higher in fat compared to white meats such as chicken, turkey, pork, etc.
10) Eat complex carbs such as oatmeal. It'll take longer for your stomach to break it down, giving you a "fuller" feeling longer. That, and your energy level will last longer. Your blood sugar will be more stable.
I've got too much stuff to say some times...
