| Have you tried usinf the Glycemic Index when you eat? some foods break down quickly and spike the blood sugar and some foods break down slowly and go in slower.....I gave some links to look at if this might be helpful...... http://www.naturalnews.com/022445.html http://www.glycemicindex.com/ http://www.diabetesnet.com/diabetes_...emic_index.php

| Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am so sorry you are having such a hard time with your diabetes. I know money is an issue but you really need to find a good doctor to help you stabilize this. I thought when you have a hard time controlling it it is called Brittle Diabetes but I'm not sure.

| Since I'm not on shots I can't speak about them but I do take glucophage and another med for my diabetes. I too get the shakes if I go under 100. My doctor told me that if my blood suger gets too high to start walking. That evidently burns the sugar off. |

| My mom is diabetic and hers runs really high daily. She takes 8 shots a day. It's very scary watching her when it gets much higher than 350. I hope you get it all worked out.

| Wow, that is a high blood sugar! You are so lucky you didint have seizures. Anyhew, I wih I could give you some of my insulin (I have 3x the normal amount) .As far as insurance is, have you applied for medical aid from your state? Because you could see and show your case worker how much you spend on medical nessecities compared to your living expenses and what you make. ??? |

| I'm sorry your having such a hard time with your blood surgar levels. My daughter is a diabetic and I get really concerned if she has readings in the 200's. I know you said your Dr co-pay was $30.00. Oh my gosh, I think that would be $30 well spent to go see your Dr. I do know that the test strips/everything you need on a monthly basis for diabetes is very costly. Maybe your Dr would be willing to give you some free samples. You really need to get this under control. This disease a you know, can effect all parts of your body and you want to feel better don't you? I'm sorry if you feel like I'm lecturing you, that's not my intent. But I'm really concerned for your health. Please keep us informed and I hope you feel better soon.

| Hi, I have Hashimoto's! If you have Graves and your thyroid hormones are not stablized on or OFF medications YOU may never have stable blood glucose levels. If your thyroid levels are sky high and you are dropping weight and your appetite is down and YOU ARE NOT eating...YOUR insulin levels will need to be adjusted. There are many reasons your blood sugar levels go up...NOT just food. Body stress or just stress from life can make you sugars go up. If you truely have Graves, you need to YOU Need to be on the internet learning as much as you can! Good luck! I hope you stablize soon and get your health back on track! Remember your pancrease is not producing insulin. You have to supplement insulin to pick up the glucose floating around in your blood to get it in to the cell. If your insulin is not adjusted right the extra glucose floats around in your blood and you see that on your glucometer. YOU gotta feed your cells! So If you are yo-yoing that much you may want to keep a record of your sugars and call them to your doctor for some possible adjustments. Again! Good luck! |

I have never had that problem with Novolog- but I just take it at meals- or as a correction dose! And I get the pens! If the novolog is bad- I would contact the company, or your RX- they might replace it! its the carbs that is the hardest! I can read a lable, but when I make something - I have no idea! It has just made me not want to eat! i have been on the pill- at first told I was a Type 2- and about 3 inslins- just 2 now! They think mine was close to 1000- it could not even be read at the hospital and hour after I first found out- and had had a shot to reduce it fast! The hospital called someone in for a special bllod test- it was almost 2 hours after the shot- it was 790!! They put me in a room up by the nurses desk- I told my BF the next day- boy these nurses are GREAT- i BUZZ- 3 ARE RIGHT HERE! Later he told me there were watching me for a COMA!! he said he walked out of the room and cried!!! 1 thing for sure though- it cured me a NEEDLE phobia-lol!!

You have to be disabled to get any assistence for diabetic's! Like have nerve damage- so bad you cannot walk - or be blind! and the state will not help w/ med's unless you are on disablity! My private insurance is high, but even if I got a job w/ insurance- I canot drop mine- I would never even be able to be covered again- i HAVE TO KEEP THIS INSURANCE- NO MATTER WHAT THEY CHARGE ME!! I would be scared to drop it even if the USA got national Health coverage

Anyways, I know what you mean about getting private insurance, I have 'pre-existing' conditions too, luckily I work at a hospital and thru them I have insurance. Good luck to you. | |

He did go through the stage where he was always hungry so his doctor told him if he felt he needed to cheat to eat lean meat ( no coating on it) because it has very little effect on blood sugars. So we always had boneless skinless chicken breast on hand for those occasions.
