Well, My BS was 98 this AM!!! I took 4 more units of Novolog- and 2 Bayer, went to sleep- got up with the shakes!!
98 is about perfect, but I get real shakey if it is under120!
I am weird!
This is what mine does-it goes real high- them to low for me!
I want an inslin pump, but they say I have to get it under control- I thought the pump was to control it????

I am getting - well am to the place- I just do not want to eat- becuse I know it just is going way high!

diabetic ketoacidosis

I have had this 2 times- from to high Blood sugar-never heard of it from to LOW!!!

My mom's get's very high also, sometimes not even readable on the meter. Are you on prednison or any new meds? Mom has been on prednison for at least 5 yr's and that is what caused her to end up being a diabetic. She will probably be on prednison for the rest of her life.
I hope you get this figuered out soon and get to feeling better.

I take blood pressure meds- was on a thyroid, but new dr. said thyroid was ok- by blood test- I think the med's made blood test look ok- By Catscans in Iowa- I was told I had Graves Disease- but no med's for that now-And I am losing weight like crazy!! I weight about 115- and I am 5'11"

My clothes get to big in a week!!??
I need to find a job and go to work, but really do not feel like it?
And all this is costing a lot of $$$- My insurance is almot $500 a month-meds w/ co-pay are about 200- for needles , test strips, meds, ect. I have a $1000 deductible- and a $30 co-pay at DR. office!! So it cost me close to $1000 a month!!

It is hard being so sweet!!

I really can not afford to go to the Dr. any more! I have spent so much in the last couple of months! Close to $3000.00 w/ everything!!
And i still have bllod sugars like 580! and i really am not eating what i need to- because i lose weight all the time!

I think your Life is worth any amount.. It is sad the cost of Health care

My husband and I both are diabetic. When he was diagnosed his was over 600 and they put him in the hospital immediately. You need to go the ER. That is very dangerous.

I'm sorry to be so blunt, but can you afford to go into a coma! You need to get medical care now. Please call a family member or close friend and get them to help you to medical care. I feel you are not understanding how grave this blood sugar and constant weight loss is. You need a good endocrinologist to help you get control. Worry about the money later! You have insurance use it. I have been a nurse for many years and I'm telling you-don't fool around, get medical help.

I'm glad to see your blood sugar is back down to where it should be!...If your having these problems with your blood sugars you really need to see your endocrinologist and you might need to change your insulin type. You shouldn't be bouncing around like that if your following your diet, those big ups and downs is whats going to bring on complications in the future, which I'm sure your aware of.....

My son switched over to Levemir and he loves it.....he does a shot every 12 hours of Levemir and his blood sugars are supposed to stay level, he gets to pick the times if and when he wants to eat, Levemir allows a person to not be on a rigid eating schedule. When he decides to eat he counts his carbs. and does his Humulog to cover them....It works great for him...You may have to try a couple of types to find a program that works for you, everyone is different....

You should mark the date when you open it, after 28 days it should be thrown out, when you inject air into the vial the oxygen speeds up the spoilage of the insulin and it may not be working correctly......I wondered this when you said you did 5 shots, that was dangerous to do, they could have all overlapped and really dropped you....

I hope you can get things under control and start feeling better....Good luck hun.....

If you aren't working, have you applied for Medicaid (don't have to answer that...just a thought)?

I use the inslin pens!! They are great! Latuus has refills for the pen! My novalog is throw away type! keep extra ones in frig! One's I am using keep out - can keep in purse- no filling syringes! Great love them- and same price for a script!!!!
Oh, believe me- i have been on a lot of differnt med's for being diabetic!!!
I am a type 1! What type is your son??

My novaolog works like that- use before meals!

He's insulin dependent also so is my husband....my son was diagnosed at 4 yrs. old.....He used to have a lot of nighttime lows or early morning lows...I've found him seizing a few times and had to call the rescue squad, it was so scary....Every since he's been on Levemir he hasn't had those problems....He just got his labs back and his H1ac was 5.8!

I know everyone is different, what works for one won't work for another....He tried the pens but he didn't like them, he said he would put the pen in and hold it for a count of ten and remove it and EVERY time he removed the pen it always had insulin dripping on the needle....he would get so frustrated because he didn't know it that was some units that where supposed to have went in him, he also likes the flexibility Levemir allows him on his eating scedule....
