My daughter is a diabetic and I get really concerned if she has readings in the 200's. I know you said your Dr co-pay was $30.00. Oh my gosh, I think that would be $30 well spent to go see your Dr.
I do know that the test strips/everything you need on a monthly basis for diabetes is very costly. Maybe your Dr would be willing to give you some free samples. You really need to get this under control. This disease a you know, can effect all parts of your body and you want to feel better don't you?
