| I was addicted to Pepsi too and gave it up also. Once I got past the headaches from the lack of caffeine I was good to go. I substituted my Pepsi with Ice Tea.

| Ive gone 4 days with no soda!!!! im not feeling better in general but my head didnt hurt at all today. I quit for a number of reasons, weight loss, insomina, pre diabetic, and joint pain. Ive replaced it with ICE COLD water. I kinda like the ice water. I cant do artifical sweeteners. I guess Im intolerant to them. If I drank 2 swallows of diet soda Id be barfing for an hour. I cant chew suger free gum either. Puke city. My grandma was diabetic and I stole one of her candies once, threw up all day. Took forever for my mom to make the connection. I guess the insomnia wasnt caused by caffine since Im still up typing with you guys at 11:30 on a school night. But I have to go to bed, got ot get up and send my son to school and take my daughter to Hannah Montana Goodnight all |

| Donating YT 11K Club Member | I've gone about 5 days without juice and sugar(the bad kind). I've only been drinking water, pure juice made myself from red grapefruits, about twice a day and like 2 cups of the cayenne lemonade, cause i actually like it. That's only if im craving something to drink with taste, if im not i just drink water, but no soda, iced tea, or juice from the stores. My face looks so much better now too.

| YT 2000 Club Member | I stopped drinking Soda when I was 18,I am 35 now. I had gotten sick with Mono and couldn't keep anything down and after that I couldn't drink pop any more. It hurts to swallow any carbonated beverage. It burns really bad even if I just take one sip! I drink Coffee and tea and Juice and water but no pop and I don't miss it at all.

| I forgot to mention that my Iced Tea substitute was decaffeinated. So, I still had some sugar, but the caffeine was gone. I hope you'll keep us updated. Good luck!

| Therapy Dog Donating Member | Way to go!! I gave up soda in 2000 for my New Years resolution and I was a big Coke drinker (4-6 a day) and it was tough in the beginning but 8 years later...I don't even miss it. Water is my choice (with lemon) or find a nice tea that you like.....and I find that water quenches my thirst way more than soda did. Once in a blue moon I will have a small Coke but boy it tastes so darn sweet to me so not even worth it. Hang in there - it gets better and you will be glad you did this.

| Stay strong.........you can do it. I gave up soda six yrs ago and about four yrs ago I gave up all drinks except for water (of course) and my decaf coffee in the morning!I think they say it takes 21 days to break a habit! Right now I am working on giving up Mike & Ikes. I just can't have one - I eat the entire box and then feel bad to eat anything else all day after I added up how many calories I am eating in candy! So far so good!

| good for you for taking control of the soda and deciding on good choices for your body! you will have headaches for the first little while when you cut out soda. this is because sugar is an addiction just the same as nicotine. they will go away once you start drinking enough water. drinking soda dehydrates your body, but the sugar rush compensates and your body is fooled into thinking you are not dehydrated. once you dont have the sugar rush any longer, your body realizes you are dehydrated which causes a headache. drink a TON of water!!! someone had mentioned drinking fruit juices, but that is kind of replacing one bad with another. fruit juices are better since they dont have all of the chemicals that are present in soda, but the sugar content can be ridiculous. a lot of fruit juices have added sugar (read the ingredients..andtheing ending in "ose" glucose, fructose...etc is a fancy way of saying added sugar. it would be better to eat a piece of fruit since then you know all of the sugar is natural plus the fibber in the "pulp" of the fruit helps to better digest the sugars present. also, all fruit juices legally have to be pasteurized which "kills" most nutrients in the juice anyway...you are basically drinking sugar water. I have a juicer and make all my own juices...veggie and fruit switching to diet pesi may decrease the sugar, but if you are doing this for health reasons, that wouldnt be any more beneficial...and its not only because of the aspartame. there is NOTHING natural about a can of soda...every single ingredient is a chemical and man made with absolutely NO nutritional value. i highly doubt that anyone here would feed soda to their yorkie...why feed it to yourself? | Yorkie Yakker | About 8 months ago I started cutting back on Mt. Dew and lost almost 10 lbs. without even trying. Drinking lots and lots of water will help too. I have started drinking more pop again and have started gaining back. |

| I used to be a daily coke drinker. I've weaned myself off the last few months. Now I drink water flavored w/ some of the sugar free drink mixes from Walmart. Eventually I would like to cut them out too and just drink straight water. I will induldge myself w/ a soda every now and then, usually when I'm eating out (which is about once a week). |
