Was this shipped with insurance?

And what type of refund/return policy do you list with your auctions?

Btw, do not think including the phrase....once it leaves my hands, I'm not responsible gets you off the hook either...because it does not. Not by ebay's terms nor paypal's.

I was kind of thinking of selling a few things on ebay, but now you've got me afraid to. I don't want to have problems, so I may just go ahead and plan that garage sale.

I was going to say the same thing.........I most that there is no refunds, items sold as is, as described. And I always include insurance and delivery confirmation on all packages (because people will say they haven't received it, etc). It is horrible!

For the record...purchasing postal insurance doesn't always mean you'll receive money on a claim either. I had an item I won once...where literally the seller threw a fragile item into a box without any kind of packing. Of course it arrived broken. She told me to file a claim with the post office...okay did that...only the post office said...poor packaging, sorry. Go back to the seller and she says...too bad...and unfortunately I had paid with a money order. The last time I might add...I purchased anything off eBay with a MO.

Oh gosh, I am so sorry Missy! I can imagine how ANGRY and frustrated you must be - I would be too! What you were asking him to do was NOT unreasonable at all - after all, you DO need PROOF that the thing isn't working for pete's sake. Any "joe blow" could say that what they bought from you is defective - that way they get their money back and free goods!

Geez, some people...I swear I hope you get this resolved soon, and in YOUR favor too!

I've bought numerous items off ebay and not had too many problems. The one I did have was with a seller charging tax on s&h......in my State they are not supposed to. Also, instead of allowing me to pay directly from paypal, it had to go thru "DealTree" - nothing in the auction mentioned another checkout source. Insurance was added too when I didn't want it.

With no satisfactory response from the seller I intended to leave bad feedback. As I was about to, the warning comes up and says something about feedback going both ways.....made me stop and think. So, I ended up leaving positive feedback but mentioned in the comments about the weird checkout and slow response.

As a buyer I always check the seller feedback. Even with a negative, if the seller's response seems reasonable, and their overall rating is good, I don't hesitate to buy from them. I know some buyers can just be difficult, swindlers and frauds.

Good luck and I hope you get either your money or camera (intact) returned. Either way don't worry about the one negative feedback, you're given the chance to respond.

I have sold and bought on eBay the past few years.

I've only had maybe 4 problems, which is a small, small fraction of my total transactions.

Generally if I sell anything with a value more than I could afford to lose, I don't use paypal. Its harder for ppl to scam you if you require payment through money order. Of course I just sold 3 mugs on eBay for btwn $100-$200 a piece and had ppl pay through paypal, I'd better be careful or that might come back to bite me in the butt.

The only problems I've had is a guy saying the txt book I sent was wrong edition and not in good condition. I offered a full refund if he sent it back, he never did. He did open up a paypal claim, but never closed on it, so he didn't get his money back.

Another guy was upset about the condition of something, he sent it back and I did a full refund.

I've had to do claims through paypal for two items I never recieved.

OH, and a hint to all of those who have had paypal claims against them. The person that opens the claim has so long to escalate the claim, and have paypal decide (i think 15 days maybe), but alot of ppl don't know this and once they open it they don't escalate it. If they don't escalate it to let paypal decide, the claim closes down completely and they lose their chance to get their money back.

He doesn't have to show proof, because Pay Pal doesn't particularly care. Their policy is that as long as the buyer says it's defective or not as described and as long as the buyer shows proof he's sent the item back to you then the buyer gets their money back. As a buyer and also a seller on Ebay I'm torn over this policy. It's great for the buyer because he/she is always protected but it sucks for an honest seller.

I listed a Playstation for my son, after he upgraded to PlayStation II. The buyer received it, left me positive feedback and then a few days later opened a claim with Pay Pal stating that when she got it, it had a huge crack in it and was not as described. Made me laugh because Pay Pal immediatly put a freeze on my account for the lousy $30 she got it for and that was even after they knew she left positive feedback for me. AND, to boot it was insured and the buyer refused to even file a claim. Her sending it back to me voided out the insurance as well, because the claim needed to be filed at point of reception. Sending it back voided the insurance bought. I explained to pay pal 1. that she left positve feedback so she must have been happy and any cracks were caused after the fact by the buyer and 2. that having the buyer send it back to me would void out the insurance I purchased and that she just needed to file the claim herself. They said too bad, that they are only concerned with the buyer sending it back and the seller giving the money back. Pissed me off since the $$ was my young son's money that he was putting towards a new game for his PS II. Elaine

grrr.. I hate paypal. When my hubby and I first got married and got our tax refund I bought a louis vuitton purse (bad idea I know) on ebay for more than 300 dollars.. never saw the purse or the money. Filed a complaint and they sent me an email that pretty much said yes I should get my money but "no funds could be recovered" I was so angry. Also my dad had sold some wireless playstation controllers on there.. someone said they didn't get the item they had bought? paypal gave them their money back (from my dad's account) and they never sent the controllers back?! I don't get it? I hope all works out for you Missy! it seems like they would want proof the camera didn't work before refunding the money... or is it just his word against yours?!

I have learned my lesson and i will never ship anything out of the usa again. I know this may be harsh, but what else can i do?

He emailed me this morning and he sounds like this is all my fault and I'm not trying to even work with him and then he has the audacity to say that the camera is broken! OMG autofocus that does not work does not make it broken! Then he says that he took it to 3 camera shops and they say that the autofocus does not work, but they can't send me a email without shipping the camera to a repair person! OK if the camera shop says it don't work, then why do they have to ship it out for a answer??? GEEZZZZZZZ

I told the AH that I would refund him $25 for the body, I looked the body up on ebay and that is the going price for just the body, so hopefully he will except that and leave me the hell alone!

Not harsh, just limits you to the US. But there are plenty of people so you do not have to go out of the USA>

what kind of camera was it?

Was it digital?

because those can stick, but can be easily fixed for not too much $$$.

Or was it a SLR 35 mm camera? The Minolta Maxxum is known for that. But that also can be fixed for a reasonable price.

Have him send it back.

PS. I was going to ask you what an AH was, and then it hit me. I am so sheltered being with the babies all the time.

Several years ago I bought a laptop on ebay through paypal. I didn't work properly. Paypal would not refund my money until I sent the laptop back to the seller. We went round and round over this. I could just see sending it back and having no computer and out the money.
I am sure that would have happened, but I decided to send it back and file a dispute with my cc company. It took some fighting, but I got my money back.

Point is, I was required to send it back, so perhaps paypal will make buyer send your camera back to you.
