i tried it awhile ago, it worked,but i went back to smoking,, i just
started it again this week again, but only take one pill a day.. i get too
nausaus at work.. good luck

I quit 10 Nov '07 using Chantix. I have found that it works for me like nothing else did. I tired absolutely everything and this is the only thing that worked for me. I have found that as long as I eat, then take the pill, my tummy is okay. In the morning, I have toast then take the pill with a FULL (80z)glass of water and have found that it helps emmensly with the nausea. Good Luck and stick with it! You CAN do it for good!!

Both my parents have used it. It did not work for my mom I don't think she really wanted to quite when she was taking it so she gave up. She is supposed to give it another try. My dad used it and it did really work well for him it has been over a year now.

I forgot to add in my last post that I found there was no weight gain with Chantix. Usually I gain a bunch of weight and that is why I start smoking again. This time I have gained only 5pds and that was because of Christmas

I am not looking to replace smoking with food now.

Congratulations everyone who has quit or if you're trying. I smoked my last cigarette the evening of August 30th, 2007. Got rid of a toxic friend so decided to get rid of the toxic smokes too.

My husband quit in June using the Chantix. His Dr. told him to or else they wouldn't do his back surgery. He did great on the Chantix. I tried taking them with with him and I just could not stand the upset tummy. I had a couple of patches left so I used those and that was it.

I think you also have to be 'ready' to quit to be successful. I did gain some weight, but I was heavy anyway...so now I'm on Weight Watchers.

Good luck to all of you...you won't believe how much better you'll feel. Oh, my husband and I were lucky too, our insurance did pay for the Chantix.

This is what I'm dealing with right now as well.... I was in a car accident back in March of '07 and following a recent discogram of my neck, they say I need to have surgery to remove the disc and replace it with sort of a "prosthetic bone" segment..... after that, they want to do the same in my low back... BUT, docs say they won't touch the "job" until I've quit smoking. Something about the decrease in the rate of healing....
So.... I've been looking into the different "aids" as well... my room mate says Wellbutran, but I've heard such good success stories with the Chantix.... looks like you're the decision maker for me Nikki!!!

Three years ago my DH and I quit smoking. Then three weeks later I went right back. DH done it cold turkey. For a year he kept telling me it was all in my head. He would go on so much it would tick me off. I was like good for you now leave me alone. Well last January I wanted to TRY it again. I got the patch, and the mint things. Well I cheated every chance I got till March. Then I thought I didnt need one when people was around then I didnt need it when I was alone. It does get better the longer you are quit. I always thought my MIL was just being a bi--- telling me it made her sick to smell it on someone but I cant stand the smell of it now. My daughter comes back from her dads and she stinks so bad. I never could smell it when I smoked. My SIL gave me some clothes and I had to wash them to get the smell out. There are web sites that can help give you ideas to help. I had to have the feeling of smoking. They gave me the idea of getting a staw and putting paper towel in it and it worked. Good luck!!!

Nikki I just want to let u know how happy I am that you have made this decision. My father was a smoker for 30+ years until he went to get some dental work at a dental school here in Houston and within minutes he had all the big dentist looking at his tounge. Well he was diagnosed with cancer then and there and he never got the dental work done. He has since quit smoking since that day, has lost half of his tounge (as that's were the cancer was), all of his lower teeth and has other complications as side effects of the chemo/radiation treatment he under went. And the worst part is he's not in the clear as the cancer can come back any day. You'll see in the long run that this will be the best decision you have ever made.

I didn't write this to scare u but to encourage u. When u feel like quiting and going back to smoking re-read and lift ur spirit up so that u can know that u have the strength and courage to quit smoking.

It hasn't curbed my smoking but it hasn't made me sick. My Dr. said to not even try to cut back the first week while it got in my system so I haven't. Tomorrow I start the 1 mg pills so we'll see.
