We got our room booked for Sunday night too! So we'll be there Friday - Monday

We are scheduling vacation at work next week Tuesday. Just as soon as I have a paper with vacation approved in my hand, I will make my reservations!! Looking forward to it!!

It was Delta and She told me they allow 2 dogs per flight. If you have those two you are good but you have to book them early.
I would call and ask. though. I hope that help out some people :) I am just glad it is just a short Drive for me:D

I think to ensure that our dogs don't mark, pee everywhere in the ball room we should put belly bands on them(on the males). I know my females don't mark but Teddy does, i don't even think he is going but if he were i would def. put a belly band on him. That way we wouldn't have to worry about 'accidents', since they are doing us a big favor of letting us have so many dogs there.

Well i told my bf that there are a lot of husband's and bf's going so he won't be the only one:p I really want him to go with me so he can help me with the midgets cause if he doesn't go i can only take 1, so we are really trying.

I don't plan on having Lacy walking around the ballroom. She'll either be carried or in her stroller.

oo ok i wish i could do that but knowing London she is a social one, i mean to the point that when she sees another dog she wants to jump out of my arms and say hi. If i don't put her down she moves a lot and whines, so i will have to put her down for a bit at least to get it out of her. Sophie is a little shy one so she will prob. want me carrying her anyway. But i guess for those that are letting theirs run free and mark a lot it would be good to put belly bands on them. Both my girls are paper trained, so if there is newspaper or weewee pads in the room they will pee on that. But idk how it's going to be. Do you know ifthere will be a little gated area for them in the room with an xpen or will they be able to run free? In the yorkie meetups i go to the dogs run free but near the door there is a gate around it so that when ppl open no dog can run out by mistake.

He was able to pull some room from the convention that is checking in Sunday/Monday so we could have a few rooms in our name on Sunday night! I'm glad you guys let me know you couldn't get a room early on, because we may have been stuck down the road :eek: . I never thought ALL the rooms would be sold out (or pulled from inventory) this early on! That just goes to show...if you're planning on staying in the hotel for longer than our meet-up (prior to Thursday or after Sunday night), you should call as soon as you can to get your reservation in. They've guaranteed us the discounted rate for your extended stay...but that's assuming they still have any rooms available when you call! At this point, they still have the rooms set aside for us for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and he's added 10 rooms in our name for Sunday night as well. If you don't get in before those 10 rooms are booked up, let me know, and I'll see if I can swing anymore. But I'm not promising anything, so book early!

Yeah but you do need to consider that gas will be even more expensive by then. I plan on driving, but I'm only 725 miles away. It would be cheaper for us because we would have to fly with two dogs so that's an extra 200 bucks on top of our roundtrip tickets.

I say we, only because I know I'll be able to convince SOMEONE to come with me!

Maybe she flew before they had the current policy in place? MAN! I wish I could take both babies (since we'll have a 2nd one by then), but I don't want to risk getting to the airport and them telling me no. Or worse yet...what if they let me fly them both TO MO, but not BACK HOME! What would I do with the second one then :eek: ?? Hmmmm...thanks for the info though. That sounds like a great idea to me :thumbup: ! I don't have a male, but my MIL does, and HE'S the reason I will NOT EVER get a male dog. Her jack russel marks EVERYTHING! We don't want to leave the hotel with a mess, as that may hurt our chances of having another meet-up in the future. Not that we'd be having it at the same location again, but regardless, we don't want to put a bad name to our group or even just "dog groups", as I'm sure that would spread through the hotel chain.

First, thank you, thank you for all of your hard work!

Second, a note to anyone considering booking online. I worked part time behind the front desk of a hotel while I went back to school. If you are considering booking through one of those travel search engines, be warned. They often sold rooms we didn't have...they'd sell non smoking rooms that were sold out, king rooms that we didn't have, etc... Because they charge you directly and then pay the hotel, you have no recourse with the hotel itsself. If you are booking online through the hotels own site, that will probably be okay, but I'd be leary of those online booking engines. ESPECIALLY SINCE YOU WILL BE TRAVELING WITH A PET. I saw many an unhappy traveler the two summers I worked there who had booked through one of those third party sites. (LOL, see how I'm not mentioning any names...)

Well I know she flew from Grand Junction to CA and Had no problem even with changing planes in saltlake city. And this was just this past summer.
she said you have to make sure ahead of time that they will not have any others on the plane.

But I know what you mean.. The drive would drain you and then you would be to whiped to have fun...

I just figured we'd each bring potty pads or whatever we need for our individual dogs to go potty since we each know what they prefer (Sukoshi will NOT go bathroom outside...only knows her potty pads), but maybe we can set aside a specific "potty zone" for the babies, and we can just spread some potty pads there...or at least have it be a designated spot in the corner where we can individually drop our babies' pads when they need to go and have no distractions so they'll actually DO their business! Like London, Sukoshi is VERY social, and if there are all these other dogs around, she will NOT want to take a second out to go potty :rolleyes: .

As for the x-pen question, we are hooking x-pens together for the babies at the meet-up on Friday (which is why I'm asking those driving to bring their x-pen(s) if possible), but as for at the hotel, I believe they will have to be on a leash, in a carrier, in a stroller, etc. at all times. Due to liability, I'm not sure about having them lose - even if in an x-pen. I would suppose we could set-up a couple x-pens in the corner as long as the applicable parents are watching their babies while they're in it, but personally, I wouldn't just put Sukoshi in there and go mingle, because you never know when an argument will break out, and I'd hate to not be there to jump in immediately. For that same reason, I don't think I'd be comfortable with Sukoshi just wandering around the ballroom either and just blocking off the door. BUT...if that's something people are interested in (a Yorkie play area or having them wander free around the ballroom), I can ask the hotel if they have a problem with us doing that...as long as you stay there to watch your baby while in play time. What do you guys think?

If I come, I'm driving.:) I'm not sure the airlines would even LET one person fly with two dogs, and even if they did, I don't think mine would fit under the seat :rolleyes: (16 hours 8 minutes according to mapquest)

LOL for someone that just got her license 2 yrs ago it's bad and has never had a car or driven more than an hr. :rolleyes: I only drove in florida a couple times, each time only like 20 minutes. I don't think my first real time driving should be a 19 hr drive LOL If my bf were driving OK but he doesn't even have his license yet:rolleyes:
