If you have just two dogs in a room this is Great at $50.00 but at $50.00 per each dog after if you have 8 in a room that is $350.00 To me that is not a bargin sorry. even at a one time fee. and the website says 25.00 is refundable......but for this it's not:confused:

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be staying until Monday :) Yay! I am already SO excited about this meetup! It's going to be a blast! I think I'm going to have a hard time picking out what Lacy is going to wear ;) LOL

I think that was the plan from when the talk of a meet-up first began. Of course, we'll have to see how the 2008 meet goes before we see if anyone is interested in putting together/attending a 2009 meet!

And as a side note:
I think before (in the planning stages) it was recommended to have a carrier or stroller for the doggies too for the shopping. But I am not certain.

I know those flying in will not have room for a stroller and will already have a carrier, so that will work out.

Yes - I talked to Three Dog Bakery's Plaza location early on about being a vendor, and they directed me to their corporate office. When the people at their corporate office never called me back, I decided to put it on hold until we had everything else set-up so I had more to tell them when calling again, and that's when I took over hotel duties and haven't had any time since. I will try to give them a call after the holidays and see if we can get anything worked out.

Also, I know we were discussing a stroller at one point when I was trying to get some of the local museums and such to allow us in with our babies, and I was hoping I'd have better luck by telling them we'd ensure everyone had a bag or stroller. Well...since we're not going that route anymore, the strollers and bags will just be a personal choice...if you want them for shopping for instance.

Des - I would love to know what you find out about this. I would love to push Sukoshi right up to the gate in her stroller before putting her in her carrier, but like you, I wondered if they only allow that for skinbabies. It may vary by airline too  .

Thanks! :D
Patricia

Hmmm...I'm not sure about booking your room through another site. Personally, I don't see a problem with it, but since the hotel is going to already have SO MANY dogs coming for our event, they may not allow anyone else to bring a dog that weekend. So...before I booked my room through a random site, I'd want to make sure they'd allow my dog(s) in my room too since you wouldn't really be associated with our group at that point (of course, WE'LL claim you, but I mean for the purposes of the hotel).

MyFairLacy 12-03-2007 09:32 PM

Lisa - I PMed you but I probably should have just posted it here so everyone could get the info:

Gayla (Layla's mom) called to reserve our hotel room tonight. She also asked about staying Sunday night too but they told her that they had no available rooms on Sunday night. I've seen a lot of people say they are planning to stay sunday night as well but right now it looks like they are booked up. We're hoping someone will cancel so we can stay sunday night too. I didn't know if you knew anything about them being booked up sunday or not. I can't imagine them being booked up on a Sunday night..that's really wierd

Lori - I asked the hotel the EXACT same thing (about their website saying the $25 is refundable), as I too think the pet fee is steep given the amount of business we're bringing them, and the response was, "The pet fee policy is for one family traveling with their pet. This is a large group with multiple pets and adjustments/costs are in place for such events." Sorry...but I tried my best through a few different arguments to get this fee reduced, and they simply would not do it because they are going to be having so many rooms with pets in them, and it keeps coming back to the sanitation issue. I agree with you 100%, but given that no other hotel (and believe me, I called them ALL) would even allow us at all, we didn't have much choice. And my contact at this hotel is very nice and a dog-lover himself, so I am happy with them so far (other than the pet fee). He did deeply discount the price of the meeting room for us for Saturday (which is ultimately built into the registration fees), so he did save us some money along the way - believe it or not. I do hope you will still join us!

Did Gayla make sure they knew she was with the YorkieTalk meet-up when trying to make her reservation? According to my contract with the hotel, they have 40 rooms set aside for us for Thursday night (in case anyone comes into town early), and 100 rooms on both Friday and Saturday night. The hotel is supposed to be monitoring these numbers internally and increasing/decreasing them according to how many people are making reservations under our group. I see that he has NOT set aside any rooms for Sunday, which is my oversight. Since he said we would get the $139 rate for the longer dates, I didn't figure it would be a problem to get a ROOM! And like you said...weird on a Sunday night especially. I will contact the hotel tomorrow to see what they can do for us. Hopefully it's not too late to pull some rooms aside for us for Sunday night. I think they normally have some rooms "set aside" - even when they tell people they are all booked. I'll let you know what I can work out.

Lisa... You're scaring me.... Your attention to detail and how you write and explain everything in such simple terms... Glad you don't work for the IRS!

Seriously, I have no clue how you and the committee is pulling it all together! But you guys are doing a marvelous job!

Thank you sooooooo MUCH!

I don't usually fly domestic but on international flights, the strollers are checked in with the luggage and is not allowed in the cabin. I've seen people handing the strollers to the ground crew just prior to boarding the plane. I would think the same will apply for our pup strollers.

I was thinking tonight, if I went... I'd have one Yorkie, my camera, my laptop.. but only allowed two carry-on and the Yorkie carrier counts as one... What to do??? My camera won't fit in my laptop bag... don't want to check either the puter or the camera... Hmmm......

Wanna drive?

mizzwanned 12-03-2007 10:06 PM

I reeeeeeeaaally wanna go and i was hoping to take all 3 of my babies with me but i don't think that's possible. I think i am only going to take the 2 girls with me for several reasons. 1. Teddy HATES being enclosed in carriers so i know he will do horrible on the plane and 2. on the plane me and my bf can only take one dog each with us as our carryon so he will have one girl and ill have the other and both girls do great in carriers. oh and 3. if it's $50 for 2 dogs at the hotel i am not going to pay another $50 just for one more dog. I feel bad:( I guess Teddy will just stay with my mom if we do go. Also i plan on buying a stroller asap cause i just know it will come in handy and will take the carriers as well. I hope we can go! BTW is anyone from ny/nj area going???

LOL! I'd say my attention to detail and explaining everything in simple terms is thanks to the audit reports I have to write for my job. Everything in our audit reports has to be complete, concise, and easily understood by the all our readers of varying levels of educations. SO...dare I say my work is not just a paycheck but something that has carried over to the rest of my life   :p . Naaaahhhh...it's just a coincidence :D :D !!!

Yes, she told them she was with the yorkie meetup. Let me know what you find out please. We're really hoping to stay an extra night so the trip isn't so rushed and we can just relax, hang out, and shop on Sunday

If we get to come, I will only be able to bring 2 of mine cause I can't pay a extra $50 for 1 more, that is just ridiculous! So how on earth am I suppose to decide who I have to leave home? :(

We registered!!!

Yippee!!! I just sent my registration...I'll be making the 12 hour drive with my gang of 5...call me crazy but I can't wait!! My sister-in-law and Layla, and I believe Michele with Lacy will be going with us also.

FYI ........ No rooms for Sunday night!!!

Just to let everyone know there are no rooms available for Sunday June 22, 2008. I called last night to book our rooms and we were going to stay Sunday night also but was told that they are all booked. I even called today to double check, was told the same thing.

As I told MyFairLacy I would (see post #69 above), I contacted the hotel today to find out why the rooms were all booked for Sunday when he told me you guys would be able to get the discounted rate for 3 days before and after the meet, and he said they have a convention beginning on Monday, so a lot (or maybe even all) of the people for that are arriving on Sunday. I told him we needed rooms available to our people, and he said he would put rooms aside for us. He asked me how many, and I told him I thought 15 would be ok since I haven't heard of that many people staying late yet, and since most everyone is sharing a room at this point. I haven't received a response back from him since that last e-mail, so I'm assuming he was able to put the rooms back for us. Check again soon, although you may want to give it a day or so for the computer to update since I don't know if it's instantaneous or not. If I hear back from him that he was NOT able to put the rooms on hold for us, I'll let you know. Otherwise, there should be 15 rooms being held in our name for Sunday night.

I agree completely Des, but we were trying to think of local vendors as well, in case we don't have enough/very many YT vendors sign up. I think everyone would agree the more YT vendors the better.
