Are you bringing all your babies? I may have to check that airline you are talking about as I will be flying out of Orlando if I fly. But could always come fly out of Ft Myers with you and stay with my sister the night before. I need to know if I can fly with two furkids as I KNOW I could not choose to bring one and not the other.

I know a lot of people are saying they're going to go, but how many are actually signed up so far?

My biggest fear is that I'll get my plane ticket, and then not enough people will sign up, and it will be cancelled. I know if it doesn't happen at all, the registration will be refunded, but my flight won't be refundable.

So are any actually signed up yet?

I just want to make sure before I commit to a plane ticket.

OMG! I JUST now saw this thread! OMG! OMG! OMG! I am so excited!!!! :D :D :D First and FOREMOST: Thank you so much, Lisa! I have no idea how you've done it, and I just CANNOT imagine all the work you've done! No one else could have done it like you did, so THANK YOU so so so much! Secondly, I just read through the entire thread and the issue of dog strollers came up with regards to traveling. I have taken my stroller through the airport with Kobi. You bet I got some weird looks (yep...just another thing people don't understand about my doggies :p), but the airline said it was fine. I flew Northwest, but no matter what I fly anymore, I am going to insist that they let me at the front ticket counter.

If you do take it, all you do is make sure you ALSO have a carrier and then you CHECK the stroller planeside just like skinbaby ones. IFFFFFFFFFF you get to the ticket counter and ready to go with your stroller and they say, "NO CAN DO" then just check it as another piece of luggage...just make sure you aren't at your limit. I hope I answered the questions about how this works, but if you have another one, PM me AND post it here, so that I know for sure that someone's asking one, and it gets answered publicly!

I've also thought about checking my x-pen because I can tie it up pretty well ??? so we'll see if that happens or not, but it was just a thought.

She did have a list of 5 that are already signed up, and I'm not on there, but trust me I'll be there. It's a done deal. I don't think there's going to be ANY problem getting at the BARE BARE minimum 50 HUMANS there...I really wouldn't worry about it cancelling, Misty! And if it does, we can just hang out with our babies and shop all weekend, K???? :p

All good questions/concerns Misty, but let me put it to you this way...if we cancel TODAY even, I owe the hotel 50% of all estimated revenue :eek: :eek: , SO...THERE IS NO CHANCE THE MEET-UP WILL BE CANCELLED! And the amount owed goes up from here, depending on how far out we are from the arrival date. Given that I don't have that kind of money, we ARE NOT cancelling! I don't care if we just have a small group...we'll make the most of it and have a GREAT time :thumbup: !

Thank you so much for the info about the stroller! Did it get banged up or dirty by checking it planeside? I'd like to go that route, but I'm afraid it will get tossed around, and given that it's one of the pink Pet Gear ones, it wouldn't take much to get dirty and permanently marked up. At least if I checked it underneath I could put it in a large bag or something to protect it a little.

It sounds like you will have a lot to fly out (and I recall this being a big trip for you with meeting some new family too ;) ), so don't worry about your x-pen. I'm hoping we have plenty from the people who are driving and able to bring one (or more), but I wouldn't expect anyone to fly one out! If we're really strapped, I can let you know closer to the trip, but so far we'll be ok with the people who have said they'll be able to bring 1+. As long as we have enough people driving who can add to that, I think we'll be ok. Thanks for the offer!

Mine is a darker blue Pet Gear one, and frankly on that color I don't mind if it does, but I see where you're coming from on the pink....? So far your bf is the only male that is for SURE coming (although I've seen other people mention their males as well :D ). My hubby was coming, but I couldn't get it out of him whether he was coming because I wanted him to or because he actually wanted to come, so I accepted an invitation to be roomies with Des, Jodie, and Cyndi, and now it's just a girls party! I will miss him, but I would've hated having him there not knowing if he was truly enjoying himself. I will only be able to bring 1 dog though since I can only fly 1 per person, and since we should have Tanuki by then, I was hoping to bring her too :( . Oh well...maybe next time :thumbup: .

Misty, I am going but have yet to get my plane ticket. Will do it before end of the year . . .I doubt that this will be cancelled . . the committee worked sooo very hard to get the best arrangement and we are all anxious to meet fellow YT'ers so 50 people going is I think understated . . . :)

June is considered a peak month for travelling guys so make sure you get your airfares completed early enough . . . . I have to use mileage to cut on cost so I will have to do it ASAP before the allocation for free flight gets full. :) I have to pay for Annika though :)

since they have direct flights from Ft Myers to KC. The rate I got was $308 and I think that included all fees and taxes. They allow 1 pet per person in cabin, 2 max in the cabin. The fee is $100 each way for the furbaby and I think you pay the fee at the counter. AirTran was cheaper ($269) and flies into Atlanta but the flights I saw only gave you 30 minutes between connecting flights....:eek:

IS it too far for you to fly out of Orlando because AirTran is cheaper and for pets and they say up to 3 dogs plus it is a direct flight. :p

Gosh...I have no idea how I could choose between Murphy and Mia.....shoot who knows. :confused:

I would be curious what airline this was on. All the airlines I've found that allow 2 dogs per carrier say both have to be 6 months old or younger. I haven't found any that will allow 2 in a carrier that are older. Please let me know if you hear from your friend, as I will look into that airline :thumbup: .

I LOVE Midwest!!!! I haven't flown them since I moved to CA (used to fly them all the time for work), but that's who we're flying home on for Christmas here in a couple weeks since they've started coming out to Los Angeles now. This will be Sukoshi's first time flying :rolleyes: :cool: . I hope she does ok :eek: !!! I love their fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies they serve and big seats (larger than most that cram you in), BUT...it just dawned on me...we're taking a morning flight to KC for Christmas, so I don't think there will be chocolate chip cookies served at 9 AM :( . Oh well...I digress...

You could tell them whichever one loves Mommy the most between now and then will get to go :rolleyes: :p . Just IMAGINE all the Yorkie kisses they'd be throwing your way :D !!!!! JK! I do understand your dilemma! So sorry you have to choose! Maybe you have a friend that would want to join you and could fly one of your babies?
