| Yorkie mix? Need help with identifying My Husband found this little petunia roaming the streets, and almost getting hit by a car, last week. He scooped her up and brought her into his office. She had a shirt on and he thought for sure someone would come looking for her. He even posted a large sign on the mailbox saying that he found a little dog. He thought about it all day and then decided, "No". We don't need a dog right now. Our beloved 13 yo Doberman who was taken right from the breeder to our home, died 1 1/2 years ago. It was a lot of heartache. So, he called Animal Services who came to get her at the end of the day. Then, he felt guilty. The next morning, he called to see if the owners came for her. They did not. He left work early and went to the shelter and paid to adopt her. The paper work says "Yorkie". But I don't know my small dogs. She looks like a mix of sorts. DH says she doesn't have any hair on her back and he initially thought she was a Chinese Cresent. She's also an older gal. Any help would be appreciated. I haven't met her yet, but I'm in love. (The 72 hour hold for the owner to come forward ended on Saturday. The shelter doesn't open again till tommorrow. We're hoping we can pick her up then.) |

| Oh how lucky for him to be able to just scoop her up. I've failed several times trying to wrangle up a stray. It's heartbreaking when I know it's time to give up. She does look like a yorkie, an older one most likely. She could also be mixed with Chinese crested like you said. I've seen some older yorkie/CC mixes before and look very similar. The only way you can tell for certain is DNA test.

| TY! I'm so glad I found this forum to help me. I know nothing about hair styles so I'll have to research that. There is a groomer close by me who always clipped my Dobie's nails. I'll have to take her there for a clean-up, lol. |

| ahhh so sad, I can't believe someone has not been looking for her. Like others said she looks old. I don't know much about C. Crested, but one thing if she is all yorkie which she could be, I would say she has been groomed not to long ago because of her ears, a yorkie that has not had much grooming would have a lot of hair growth from the edges of the ears, yet hers look pointy and sharp and there does not appear to be much hair. Several of my past yorkies if left unbathed and un brushed for a week or two could easily look like a big mess, and since she had a shirt on, I think she got out, perhaps she has an older owner who can not get around easy. If it was me I would put an ad on Craigs list and get the word out. Either way that little gal is lucky your husband found her and you both must have big hearts to take her in. Please keep us posted on what happens and if you do wind up keeping her this website will be a great source of helpful information as you get used to being a yorkie mom.

He was on a mission the night he found her. To try and find her owner. Craigs List, and Facebook. He even called someone who posted about a lost Yorkie on CL but lives 50-75 miles to the south. On the off chance... He's not 100% sure, but in hindsight, he thinks he may have seen the dog with a drunk woman. One who was riding a bike with a 12pk of beer and swerving. The dog may have been on top of the beer. He works at a Marina and there is a strip, leading to the beach. Which is where he seen her. | |

| Oh my gosh she is just adorable.Bless your heart for wanting to bring this sweet girl into your home. While she does look older, that may not always be the case. If she hasn't been taken care of properly her teeth may falling which may make her look older. Just make sure you take to her to the vet and get a good exam on her, to also include blood work. I love the older ones. You will have to tell us all about her when you get her.

| Poor girl... She could be purebred, or like you said yorkie/CC. I'm so glad he decided to go back for her... She deserves some love, she looks neglected

| Update - She's home with us!!! The pound vet estimates her as 6-8 yrs old. They removed 5 of her teeth. And when they got inside to spay her found that she had a severe uterus infection which would have killed her without medical attention. The lady doing the adoption paperwork mentioned that she may have been used for breeding. She's so delicate and absolutely delightful. Her personality is awesome! She's a lover! Snuggles right up! She followed us around everytime we got up the first couple of hours she was here. And slowly stopped. It's like she realizes we're good, and when we get up, we come back. That we're not leaving her. |

| that's likely why they threw her away, she was costing money to feed and they weren't willing to pay the vet bills, your husband is a giant sucky poo for which we are sure that little dog is truly greatful. You guys rock |

| She is a beautiful girl, looks all Yorkie to me. She may have some hair loss on her back if the previous owner was feeding her a cheap food. Lack of proper nutrition can cause hair loss. I'm sure that now that she has a loving home, that hair will grow back. She really is a lovely little lady
