| Congratulations what a sweet faced puppy you have. Buster is trained for pee pads indoor and to go outdoors. It took a while and he still sometimes conveniently forgets and he is 20 months old..the Yorkie factor!

| Charlie did the same thing in his crate. I didn't ever think he would get ever stop. I blocked the back of his crate off and all of the sudden one day he was done using his crate for a bathroom. I just kept being patient with him and consistent. He sleeps in his crate at night and when we have to leave in the day he knows to kennel up! He likes it now. Charlie is 5 1/2 months old now...in the beginning I thought I was going to lose my mind but it gets better! Good luck! Your baby is cute by the way! |

| day three update... She is very frustrating, there is still no rhyme or reason behind her bathroom habits even with a schedule. We get up at 8, find that she usually has peed in her crate, carry her outside (if we put her down inside it's instant peeage) and then she stands there like "what am i supposed to do here?". Pee pads are no better. She seems to love peeing inside so we figured we would try those... all she does is move them around the house and then pee on the carpet. According to some quick research and a few phone calls, apparently, to my dismay, she was crate kept her entire life, so she was never potty trained at all beyond, "i can go when i want because my crate gets cleaned every day". Any more suggestions? Has anyone been in this unique predicament before? Thanks again for everyones help and support and in return for your help here's another action shot of her playing with casey's toy (which is about a big as she is): |

Unfortunately this is not a unique predicament. Yorkies can be difficult to potty train. We got Camden at 2 1/2 yrs old and she had been kept in either a kennel or a building her whole life. She didn't have a clue about potty training. It takes a lot of patience and positive training, and consistency. Good luck!

We have 3 Yorkies. One of them still a puppy. I have a collection of the washable pads that I wash about every other day. May I suggest if you try them to order 2 and then you can put one down while you wash the other. There is also some spray that you can buy at Petsmart that you spray on the pad and it "attracts" the puppy to pee on the pad. It is in the house-breaking section by the pee pads at our Petsmart. Good Luck........ Can't wait to hear what you name her... just in case you are still undecided.... here are a few that I like: Celeste Olivia Simone Rikki Fergie Tatum Chloe

Are you getting up to take her out for potty during the night? If not you really should be, expectably if you are finding pee in the cage in the am. Also if you have not already... Find some way to condense her cage to limit her access to go potty. Because, dog generally will not potty where they sleep even as young as 10 days old. Unless they have no other choice like not being taken out when needed. You may want to purchase a cage with a divider. I found one at wal mart to give you some idea. Please read my tips on potty training off of my web site, I am sure that you find them to be very hellpful. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Go-Pet-Club-Folding-Dog-Crate-with-Divider/15553859

| Update: Thanks for all of the great advise, she has been peeing and pooping outside and hasn't had any mistakes yet (for now) besides in her crate. She is still nameless for now, i'm going to run that list by the fiance when she gets home, maybe we will find a good one in there. I think we are going to get some of the washable ones as we are going through at least one or two disposables a day. As usual, here is your compensation for the great advice!! |
