| My Fair Lacy- the woman in Simms is who my friend got her adorable Yorkie from. Mine came from Phyllis Brown in Texarkana- she lives in the Spring Lake Park area. She said that this was her first litter of puppies. Poor Sassy- my friend and her Rocco came over to play tonight and he is so adorable- exactly what we set out to get. Sassy is a sweet baby, but I guess she will never be our Yorkie. To all the posters who suggested we get another Yorkie- I wish! We have a Sheltie that is 8 years old and an outside dog that is a Catahoula. We also have one cat- so another pet is out of the question right now! Crystal |

| you know, I think this little dog COULD be a yorkie. It's all in the hair. If you shave down any Yorkie, they look like this. Was she clipped before you got her? |

| Yes, but your parents aren't yorkies..I'm sure one of your parents is darker..? Most yorkies somewhat(when they're purebred) look alike.. |

| I just thought I would chime in with a bit of trivia that we show breeders use to approximate mature weight. At 8 weeks you triple the weight and at 12 weeks you double it to get a good guess on mature weight. So me thinks your are going to have a Big Girl! But still cuter 'n a bugs ear! One other bit of trivia....while your seller said they only had 2 mature yorkies on site.... for those of us who have multiple stud dogs, it is possible to have two different sires of one litter. Dogs continue to ovulate during their heat cycle. The AKC allows us to register a multiple sired litter but we have to DNA test EVERY puppy and the registration fee is really high!

But my first instinct looking at these pictures was; Wiener dog mixed with Yorkie. The texture of the coat is wirey. The body and the legs are very long. The muzzle is long and of course the color is different than that of a Yorkie or a red yorkie for that matter. There are Yorkies with gene defects which results in what they call "off colored" yorkies, but I think your baby goes beyond that though. There are tons and tons of breeders out there who are breeding dogs that should not be bred simply because they do not represent the standard. A dog's entire blood line needs to be on the up and up because a defect or a different breed dog can show up in the litter many generations later! I've seen puppies from the same litter that had 2 chocolate ones and 2 standard ones! There's a difference between having a different color Yorkie and having a Yorkie that looks nothing like a Yorkie. Reputable breeders go the extra mile, by DNA testing their dogs for gene defects and those breeders will want to have breeder dogs with champions in their lines as well! If breeding is done right, with the right dogs with the right lines, "mistakes" are next to none! This breeder needs to be stopped as she obvioulsy doesn't know her lines very well, trying to report her to the AKC and demanding your money back is worth a try!? Honestly, I don't know what I would do either if I were you (keeping your new baby or not) but I can understand your frustrations as my very first Yorkie, 12 years old now, grew to be 10 Ibs, has huge ears and a funny gait, but he's the smartest and most loyal dog one could ever hope to have and while his "sibling" might be more "attractive" than he is, he sure makes up for it with attitude and I don't ever regret falling in love with him! | |

| The two dogs looked completely different. On the one that grew a lot of hair, as a puppy they had thin hair - see the long wispys around the face? The OPs puppy has NO long hairs at all - all short, smooth hair.

| I think you puppy is adorable regardless if she is mixed or not. I have a little boy who is a Yorkie mix and he is an awesome little boy. I don't think $200 is too much to pay even for a mixed puppy. That is just my thoughts. Also I thought my Yorkie was going to be 7 or 8 lbs and she turned out to be 13 lbs. I LOVE her so much that I don't care how much she weighs! I'm not saying that your breeder was dishonest because I don't know that. But I would say that 'nice' doesn't necessarily mean that they are honest. I know of a breeder who has sold puppies that she KNEW had parvo and to meet her you would just love her, she is so nice. When people called her and told her the puppies were sick she denied that they were sick when they left her house. I know that not all breeders are like this and I hope that very few are but I do know about this one. I do not mean to offend any breeders here who I believe are honest, so please don't take offense. I'm glad that you are keeping her and I think you will be glad you did in the long run. Please stay with us and post more pictures as she grows up.

| I'm no expert, but I would say she's probably yorkie/chi mix! She is adorable. I adopted a yorkie/chi mix from the shelter (that now belongs to my mom) and she did eventually get some longer hair on her head, legs, and tail around the time she turned 1. Its not much though. Our Yorkie/chi mix is 15 lbs but could stand to lose some weight. I hope you'll stick around, there are several ppl here with yorkie mixes, myself included, my little guy is a rescued yorkiepoo. One day I hope to get a purebred. |
