| Sewing supplies I've always loved sewing but quit recently after moving into my own apartment and not having my own sewing machine. I go to cosmetology school somewhat full time but have a lot of extra time after I get out of school for the day since I have no job and my boyfriend doesn't get home until 5:30. So, I decided I want to start making clothes and beds and everything for Lilly. I'm sure it'll take some time to get used to making clothes since I've only made quilts and pillows (things for humans) in the past. Anyway, today we're going to Hobby Lobby and wherever else to get things to get me started. I'm trying to make a list of the things I need because I know if I don't I'll forget something, I'm also hoping after I get the hang of making clothes for Lilly maybe selling some things on here. I know there are quite a few lovely ladies on here that make wonderful things so I'm just wanting you all to help me make sure I have everything on my list that I'll need. So, just list things you know I'll need and I'll add them if I don't already have them. The first definite things I'm making for her are a bed and a dress harness. Thanks in advance!

| Do they have a website so I can see if there's one around here? I think we do but I'm not sure.

| Basics: fabric shears seam ripper pins measuring tape/yard stick marking pen For your projects: patterns - go for a simple one first cheap fabric to begin with velcro, d-ring, fastener, etc. filling, foam, or pillow for bed matching thread You can find some inexpensive machines at walmart, target, overstock.com, craigs list, or an open box buy at your sewing store. You don't need anything fancy if your going to make basic stuff, later on you can invest in a better machine, or even a serger. |

I have another question since you're a lot of help. How do you got about getting the D-ring on there for a harness. Like after you make the dress, I'm confused as to if you just put the ring on some other fabric then sew that on or what because I doubt they have patterns that tell you how to do that part?

| We went to the mall this weekend and got me a sewing machine. We went to Sears and got a Kenmore for $79. It is not fancy but it is nice and has all the basics and was cheaper than anything WalMart had....

| Yeah, we'll probably either get one of the internet or the sewing machine store in a nearby town or hopefully my grandmother will know someone who has one. That isn't bad at all though for a sewing machine.

| I agree with all of the above, but wanted to add dressmaking shears to the list. They are awesome . |
