I am really trying to understand where you are coming from, and I think it is just confusing me more. How is a chocolate a 'dying breed of the yorkie.' In order for it to be a dying variation/breed/color, etc, that means it would have had to have been widespread and well recognized first--when was that? How can something be a dying breed if it was never recognized to begin with?

Yes, apparently one did compete. We do not have a show report in yet, so I can't say what the award was that the dog was given, if any.

There are no DQ's in Yorkies (in UKC or AKC) so a dog of that color couldn't be disqualified for being an off color. In order to be disqualified, there has to be a specific disqualification listed.

When I received your email I was on the phone with one of the judges from the weekend. She called me about the dog, and she said she had withheld awards, which would be the correct action, I feel, as the standard is quite specific regarding the color. Because no mention is made of the off color as a DQ, the judge should treat it as a fault and penalize the exhibit accordingly. In a standard so heavily weighted towards color, in my opinion withholding would be the best course of action.

If I can be of any more assistance, please let me know.

again why do you care was your dog there did i beet your dog no did i win anymoney honors nothing why is it you care what or why i was there and my dog i dont get you so what now you want me to mail them there little ribbon back or what this is rediculous ya'll just cant stand it cause someone else tried something new i guess. scared someone gonna make a difference

Had i known you were one i might would have asked you seein how i am new to all this showing i did what i was told i could do nothing more or less i did nothing wrong and alot of people at the show commended me for bringing back a dying breed of the yorkie and 3 of them were judges so if you dont want them in your little ring show thats fine i dont really care i just want people to see them for what they are Dogs breeders for show lines created and then tossed aside because they werent there standard. See that's the problem you don't care. It affects the breed when it's not represented correctly and then in turn it affects the show breeder. That in turn that's how it affects "ME".

Shannette what is really bothering most is OP Diva, your breeder posting her home bred "Chocolate" competed taking second in a UKC show...

Had this thread started out...for fun you attended a show asking a judge for their critique and you received great feed back is one thing...BUT a post saying you took 2nd in a competition and 10 pages of getting to the truth, well enough said!!

i have no idea really all i know is they were murdered out because of color which is wrong either way you look at it. if they said no poodles but black and white does that mean all the poodle breeders will start killing the reds and blue's creams how do you stop something like that without getting the word out and getting recognition it is a breed recognized or not by these corporate kennel clubs. it lives and loves and is a living thing that shouldnt be destroyed there is no cause for it. there is nothing wrong with these dogs except they have a different colored coat. that is not worth them being murdered and pushed away from social groups and shows

Nothing to do with dogs, but what the heck...same thing just different scenario...

Daughter is part of a competitive cheer squad that has a chance to go to Nationals in Orlando, FL. They go to cheer competitions to try to get bids for Nationals. Now, if they are the only ones to compete in their division, they are awarded 1st place, no matter how good or bad. If they are not up to par, they will not be offered a bid. The bid is what they are striving for (as with dogs, winning first place). In cheer, winning first place doesn't mean squat unless you get a bid for Nationals....this is how I see this second place ribbon you received.

While I'm sure it was fun and educational for you, it was a second place ribbon...and that's because no other dog was shown.

well in the puppy group i showed a liver and tan male there were about 7 dogs they got big fancy ribbons i still go second i think they just didnt want to hurt my feelings cause i was new and did have pretty dogs. just wrong color.

But if more Yorkies would have been in the show with her no im sure she wouldnt have but that was just luck of the draw i had no idea how many yorkies would be there it was sponsored by hairless organization who knew what would show up

The reason I care is because I work very hard to perserve the breed as stated in the standard. Yorkies are my passion and also my responsibility to educate.

No need to mail back a 2nd place ribbon......

by murdering you mean culling .... do you really think the off colors are murdered??? they are lovingly placed as pets and the bitch that produced it wouldnt be bred again!

No you have the wrong idea. A chocolate Yorkie is not the correct colour and should never be in the show rings. It sounded like you think it should be in the show rings giving validity for purposely breeding for wrong colour. Wrong colour like a chocolate is not a minor fault it is a major fault. It should be spay/neuter and in a pet home. That is all we are trying to get to be understood.

no one is telling you to kill the dogs GEEZ that is alittle extreme don't you think...that's why it's "PET QUALITY"! Reputable breeders would spay and neuter to insure to not get that color not kill them OYVEY!

now because of people putting them out there and the great use of internet they are not murdered but spayed and neutered for pets which again will stop the procreation of this color why what does it hurt to breed this color if people like a different color isnt it our right to preserve it
