| Pet urine on ceramic tile HELP!! Hi, I need a little advice on how to effectively clean a tile floor. Our entryway and main hall way has ceramic tile. It's a lovely floor, but unfortunately I have a somewhat incontinent dog in my house. It would appear that the dog's urine has seeped into the grout, and needs to be cleaned. It's always in the constant spot. He does it when I am not home. When I am home he doesn't do it. Maybe once when i wasn't looking. I can't yell at him for something he did that I wasn't home. We normally use bleach and water, or ammonia-type cleaners on the floor, but they don't seem to take away the urine smell for long. Are enzyme cleaners what I should be using? I've used Natures Miracle and Urine Off. I've seen people mentioning sealing grout - should I be doing this? Does anyone have any advice or ideas for me? I'd appreciate any information! I like to keeping our home clean.

| we have rental properties and are faced with this problem quite a bit. if you let clorox sit on it for a few minutes, it should clean up. also, a whitening toothpaste gets the stain out. I would treat it with an enzyme cleaner first to get the bacteria and any "smells" out of it. then to get the discoloration out, either of those 2 methods should work.

| Try regular white vinegar. That supposedly gets rid of the smell and does a great job cleaning! I hope that helps!!

| After you get the smell out, seal the grout. It does not let anything penetrate. When we sealed ours, you painted it on the grout (and do this every 3 - 4 years, I think). Now they have a spray (I think I saw at Home Depot) that is very easy to use.

| Yes, I think i will seal the grout cause of all the rubbing on the gout of cleaning the grout seem to be descending. Once he pee on the spot the urine expand up and down, left and right of the grout. Vinegar is a strong smell if not diluted. Should i dilute the vinegar before applying it to the grout? What enzyme cleaner is good to clean out the grout? I got urine-Off the infommercial and it suck. I thought it was a enzyme cleaner, but guess not. I will have to go to home depot later to get the grout sealer.

| Yes, get an enzyme cleaner like Nature's Miracle and let it soak on the grout for a while. Stop using bleach, it makes the smell worse and also ruins the grout. GOOD LUCK, I have the same issue, but with my beautiful red, expensive sectional sofa

| You should alwasy seal the grout when you put down tile. We have done tile in our home. We put two coats of sealer on the grout.

| I use CLR, the liquid. I put it in a spray bottle, spray the area, then use an electric toothbrush for scrubbing. I let it sit and wipe off with water after about 15 minutes. When it thoroughly dries (about thirty minutes) my grout is as white as can be. I then use Windex for shine.......

| I don't have any suggestions for cleaning, but have you thought about putting a potty pad down in that area?

| I just did this to my grout and tile this wekeend. SAME exact situation as you. Murphy and Mia will not potty in the house while I am home but will every now and than when I am not. I used a urine cleaner on the grout before to get the smell out - left it on there for about 15 minutes and than wiped it up - than I took Soft Scrub with bleached and lined the tile to make a paste and left that on there for about 20 minutes. It took the dark out and cleaned it really well. Now I am going to go get a sealer this wekeend and seal it like everyone else is suggesting. Good luck ~ hope this helps you!!

| If all else fails, Home Depot has an acid based grout cleaner that is wonderful. I can't remember the name but it comes in a yellow bottle. When I bought my house, the previous owners had put down ceramic tile in the kitchen years ago but failed to seal it. The grout was suppose to be a light gray but was black instead because it had never been sealed! I tried eveything to clean it including soft scrub and bleach but it made no difference. I used this grout cleaner from Home Depot and a special wire brush for cleaning grout (also available there) and it made the grout look brand new. If too much of the grout has worn away, you may need to add some.
