| There are many big dogs who get along beautifully with Yorkies, and plenty of pit bulls that are raised to be gentle and loving. I would not, however, own a pit bull. They're genetics dictate that, when feeling in danger, they go to kill. It's not their fault, it's not the owner's fault, it's just genetics. There are a few breeds that are more dangerous to live with than others. For those of you who have pit bulls, please don't take offense. It's my opinion and if you are offended, just assume that I'm totally wrong. I apologize beforehand.

My husbands pit would not hurt a fly...unless he though someone was trying to hurt one of us. Heck...he even sleeps in his dog house with a CAT!!! How many dogs do you know who do that?? He shares table scraps with this cat, this is HIS cat..lol... Im sure noone on here will get offended by what you wrote, there are alot of people who share the same opinion as you.

| I used to own a pit bull"Buddy"...though never at the same time as a yorkie...but..my other dog had puppies and Buddy adopted them all , guess he didnt relize he couldnt nurse them as he certainly tried to.I feel the key factor to ANY breed dog in the home..is education...research the breed you want, be willing to look at all aspects of the breeds known temperment, and follow through with learning the how too's of handling and training that breed dog.Don't just get any pit bull you come accross, research the breeder, make sure they are a reputable breeder, as they are doing thier best to breed the milder temperment of pitbull, the not so reputable ones actually want the fight to still be in the dogs for not so legal reasons.Any dog can be a danger, even a Yorkie(odd I know) I once looked up the cases of deaths by dog by breed, there was actually 2 yorkies listed as having not only caused human death....but being considered a menacing dog..go figure. The point of me sharing this with you is simple.....Knowledge is power...arm yourself with what you need to know before taking on the pup, take your already existing dog to visit a full grown pitbull...on neutral territory.....see how it reacts to it....nothing is wrong with wanting to blend large dogs with small ones.....just be smart about it and youll all have a long happy life together.

| I am owned by a very very spoiled rotten pit bull. Pits have gotten a very bad rap over the years. so much of what you see and hear about them is so sensationalized its ridiculous. Pits were (and sometimes still are) bred to be aggressive to other dog, particularly of the same sex. It doesn't matter how you raise them, they can still end up aggressive towards other dogs. Though through training and a BUNCH of socialization you will have more of a chance of ending up with a nonaggressive dog. pits were NOT bred to be aggressive toward humans. In fact they are one of the most loyal breeds of dogs. Pits that are aggressive towards humans are usually trained to be that way, or more often have had NO socialization or human interaction. We have had several different dogs in and out of the house and Laney has done beautifully with all of them. I don't trust her out with anyone when I'm not at home, but that goes for ALL my dogs. I'd rather be paranoid and safe than to come home with an injured dog. The worst fight we have ever had in this house was between my mom's yorkie/chi mix and a poodle/JRT I was fostering. I would suggest if looking for a pit bull go through a pit bull rescue that KNOws what they are talking about. If you find a good pit rescue, and there are plenty of them around, they will have had the dog long enough to know how it reacts to other dogs of various sizes, cats, kids (and most LOVE kids), etc. I know my Laney girl prefers my smaller fosters and her little bro Slade (5lbs). She has always been able to sense them being smaller and plays more gently with them. she goes BESERK for the kids I babysit for. she plays hide and seek under the table with them. Even though she is wild and crazy with me I have had her around people with disabilites and she can tell she needs to be gentle with them. For more info on Pits go to www.pbrc.net www.pitbulltalk.com www.badrap.org Tell me who in charge in this house?

| My nephew has a pitbull, BA, that's my father has had since Michael, my nephew, was born. The two practically grew up together & BA is so well-trained. He rarely barks or becomes aggressive, unless he senses that Michael is in danger. Bobby has played with BA & even my brother's other dog, Rico, who's a German Sheperd. They all seem to get together but that's just my experience.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | As beautiful as they are, this is not a chance that I'd be willing to take. So many people say "it's how they are raised". Then what about family whos pit is having a bad day and attack a human member of their family? I know a family that has had a pit female for years...raised in the home and underfoot. High school son comes home one day and pets the dog and she turns around and bites his hand. Pits are powerful, muscular dogs. Would you be able to fight one off?

| There are too many "I don't know what happend!" when dealing with pit bulls. I personally was almost attacked by one as a kid. The dog was always very nice and I was around it alot. Then one day I have an empty paper towel roll and I am making a sound thru it and that is what ticked the dog off. The owner jumped between me and the dog and the dog attacked her instead. Honestly, I feel they are beautiful and great guard dogs, but never would I own one with my kids or small animals. There are just breeds that have "tendencies" more than other.....yeah, it is alot of how they are raised, then again, some are also how they were bred.

| I dont trust any pitbul at any age or trained in anyway. IMO they are free wheeling dogs, and even if trained properly if they dont like you they will show you, and not with a simple bark or growl. I know people will say its not true and it depends on how you raise them, well I dont buy it. They are wild dogs and not safe as pets IMO |

| Thinking about getting a pitbull I know that you have had a lot of suggestions. Pitbulls are not even allowed in some cities. I live in FL and we have seen so many children attacked by these dogs that were, "very tame and lovable". I would never forgive myself if something should happen to my yorkie. Maybe you could talk to you Vet before making a decision. That is just my opinion.

| It's a hard decision. And when it comes to being able to fight a pitbull off, I have a certain mentality - dogs are descendents of wolves & there's really no fighting one off. If any dog is determined to kill another, it's a slim chance to none you're gonna be able to fend them off for long. Unless, I spent time with the dog and whatnot, I'd be hesitant. Best of luck in your decision
