| Leads and clothes I bought Paddington a cute shirt to wear on Wednesday that says All American Cutie. I want to take him to the fireworks and parade with it on, but I can't figure out a way to hook his lead to him. There isn't a hole for me to put his harness rings through, and I don't want to cut it because then it would ruin the design on it. It looks really silly with the harness over it. I don't like attaching his lead to his collar, and honestly he doesn't like walking with his lead attached to his collar. I also have a jean jacket for him that has the same issue. He never wears it because I want to be able to take him out in it- it's SO cute I want to show him off, but can't because he has no lead on.... Is there a solution??? I ordered a superman tee shirt online and the company said they can add a harness ring for an additional dollar... is this safe or would he be able to slip out of the shirt if he got excited enough??? Thanks! -O

| Is there going to be fireworks? I wouldn't take him if there is because dogs and fireworks don't mix at all! They are terrified of them. It scares the holy cow out of them. Mine would be too hot in somthing like that, they prefer nude

| There will be fireworks, but I live in a small town where we can walk back home... he'll hear them regardless, so I'd rather have him with me where I can give him treats and he can see the children clapping etc. I don't usually dress him up, especially in the jean jacket because it is too warm, I was just looking for suggestions for that in the future, and the tee shirt is light enough, I thought it would be festive. He is almost always au natural (or "commando" as my brother says ) -O

| I've had the same problems with some shirts but I loosened the harness a little and put it on first. Then the shirt then I hooked the leash on the harness from the top of the t-shirt opening. With the harness a little looser, it pulled the d-ring up and they were still secure with the shirt over the top. Hope this helps.

| Lacy's not at all afraid of Fireworks. She's been with me the past two years to see them and has been just fine. So not all dogs are afraid of them. I always put Lacy's harness on top of her clothes. She has a leather step-in harness with pretty thin straps so I think it looks fine over her clothes.

| I would take out my sewing machine and put a "buttonhole" where the harness rings would be. It is very simple and doesn't take long, especially if you have an automatic buttonhole setting on your machine. If you can't do it maybe you know someone who sews who could do it for you. I would practice first on a scrap fabric to make sure you have it set up right. Good luck!

| Thanks for the advice; I asked for the ring on his superman shirt, but I haven't seen the option anywhere else. I am a bit nervous about loosening his harness because there are SO many people at these festivals, and he likes to run away to see people! I probably won't even keep him there for very long; just a quick walk around to give him an opportunity to be social, then back home! Like I said before, I hardly ever dress him up. Just when it would be festive, or kind of funny/cute. I'm sure he'll have more time in clothes once winter hits (which is usually in October 'round here!) so I was curious what to do. Quote:

| Can you pick up a step in harness somewhere? I have some 10 lb fur babies, and I actually sew my own harnesses so I know that they are very secure.. but I prefer to use the step ins especially in cases where they get really excited and pull more. If not, I think the button hole idea is a great one!! I don't ever trust d rings on stretchy material or even shirts that are loose. And, btw we used to live right behind where our fireworks in town where done and the furbabies were outside the whole time and didn't mind it a bit, I'm sure your baby will do great! |

| I've never even seen step through harnesses! Cleveland is a "big dog" area, so there aren't a ton of options available for small dogs... I'm pretty lucky when I can find a good harness or shirt that fits him.... even our purses for him seem huge. I order almost everything online. Where can I get a step through harness? Thanks! -O

| I ordered mine off ebay. They came with matching leashes. But there are lots of ladies on here that make them.

| I got Lacy's step-in harness from Glamourdog.com. Here is a link to all their harnesses: http://www.glamourdog.com/harness.html This is the one that Lacy has - she has the hot pink one with the light pink heart: http://www.glamourdog.com/meonepistinh.html They are leather so they are made to last and they are so easy and convenient to use

| I totally agree here. In an effort to find an easier way to bring Tucker outside because he put up such a fight for his harness, I bought two harness vests with D-rings. Both of them were a complete waste of money as the velcro would come undone or he could get out of them if he tried hard enough...and he did! The button hole idea is the best idea...I have a sweater that has one in it and I've been meaning to add one to a jacket and shirt I have for Tucker. Good luck!
