| My boys are on the bigger side at 14lbs and 7lbs, but they can walk/hike anywhere from 2-4 miles without a problem. They are 8 years old almost! However in the summer, they are very active. In the winter they slow down as do I, so that might be a stretch for them.

My 17lb'er has walked 7 miles easily. That's the furthest we've gone on one hike, so I have yet to see if he could go further. I'm sure he could, weather depending.

| Tink goes hiking with me and my dh all the time. We have hiked as far as 6-7 miles and it was no problem for her. I was worried the first time we took her, but she is great. If we are on a steep or rocky part of a trail where we need to climb, we will just put her in the backpack until we get over that part. I tire out way before she does...lol... |

| Charlie is runner, the perfect dog for me ! We go for a 6 to 7 km run once a week, and we do that under 50 minutes usually. We stop halfway for a water break, but I keep an eye on him, if he slows up we'll trot for a bit. He's 2 years old and about 13 lbs. Planning on taking him for his first hike this weekend ! |

| When Strawberry was 6 (she is now 16) she went on a 5, 10, and then 15 mile hike! We weren't sure she would make the whole 15 miler but she did. We took many breaks though. Elena on the other hand gets tired after about 30 minutes walking. |

| Toby (5 lbs, 4 YO) has hiked 9 miles with us before without a problem (Weather was not real hot, it was around 70F probably). He LOVES walks and never quits unless the weather is too hot which slows him down quickly. Usually I am far more tired than him during walks. Usually he comes home and lays down for an hour or so and then wants me to throw his squeaky toy for him to chase |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Hiya - we're getting our Yorkie in a couple of weeks - question on water for walks (and little sprints, I hope :-) - I do run though realize it will only be very short distances with the pup - do you just bring along a water bottle? a collapsible dish? (just curious about the practicalities) Thnx! |

| We took jasmin for a walk once which he didn't do well on. We play with her in basement. We left it empty for her. She gets to run around and is safe. She only go outside for potty and on the deck for BBQ times in summer.

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | I guess it would depend on age, an older pup would not be able to walk as far or long. A younger pup can walk as long as you want too as long as you don't over due it and always make sure they have time to get their business done. Once that is done any walking you do is just for fun and leisure time.

| If it's warm out and we are going for more than a mile or so, we will usually bring a bottle of water or two for us and him. We bring a tiny plastic dish with us and just pour a little water into it and offer it to him once or twice during the walk. If he wants it he will drink it right away and if not we just pour it out and offer again in another mile or so. I want to note that we almost always walk in a shaded woods area and we don't walk very far if at all with him if it's actually really hot out since he get overheated very quickly in really hot weather. |

| I guess I'm lucky that we live in beautiful BC, most trails in our public parks have water stations for humans and dogs ! But we also have a water bottle / tray that we'll bring along when we go into the back country. Got mine at Petsmart for 6 bucks if I recall correctly |

| We walk about a mile around our neighborhood park trail. Jilly my small one can go and go Piper my little fat one gets tired and just stops. Also in the south hot weather may cut our walks short. |
