| Yes, they will We have several rescue groups that I am involved in and an animal shelter run by the county, any time I purchase anything for the boys that they do not like, including toys, treats, food, biscuits, whatever, I donate it to the rescue group or animal control. I also clip coupons for any dog food that I see when clipping my grocery coupons and donate those. Every little bit helps, I got some gifts for Christmas of collars and I only use harnesses on the boys, so I took those to a rescue group. Whatever you have the groups are very grateful for, the last time I took food to the animal shelter, they even asked me if I wanted a receipt for my taxes. So do not throw it away, the rescued animals can put the stuff to good use. |

| Great ideas! Our babies are so fortunate and always have more than they really need. Thanks Millie (That's my mom's name!) |

| The last time I went into the humane society here in my town I ended up talking my brother into letting me bring him home to them. He lived three hours away but he was soo cute and I couldn't help it. His name is George. He loves being outside and sleeping. LOL. he is a lab mix

Donating YT 14K Club Member | When I was in high school, I would volunteer at the Humane society during the summers. It broke my heart. On Wednesdays, they did the spay and neuter clinic. That was pretty cool since I got to watch. I also got to watch them remove a large bladder stone once. Mondays was the dreaded days and I tried my best to stay out of the back especially the dog area. You would walk by the office and there would be a 4 foot mountain of dogs that had been euthanized. It was terrible. This place didn't adopt out puppies since they were too young to be spayed/neutered. Also, found out about 10 years later...there was a law suit/investigation of the humane society. Seems that the vet that did the spaying/neutering didn't put the animals to sleep for surgery. Instead, she gave them a shot to paralyze them, but they were fully awake and aware during the surgeries. Seems that this shot was cheaper than the anethesia. Sick if you ask me. I know that a lot of people got into trouble but don't remember the outcome of everything. Seems as though they had to pay a hefty fine. |

Way to go kp&Nala...That had to be so rough - The last time I went in a Petland (before I knew where their puppies came from) I left there so upset I couldn't drive either - | |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | i'm sooooooo sorry! When we got our dog rusty 7 years ago he was a year old. we got him from the edison animal shelter (pound) i saw all those dogs i didn't want any of them so i feel bad now but it was sooooooooooooooooo sad seeing all of them at the edge of the cage crying and trying so hard to chew through the wire. that's what my puppy does when we put him in his crate and it makes me feel terriable. personally i don't know how any one can leave their dog at a pound and not think twice about it. rusty is my best friend and just the sweetest dog ever. i don't know how someone could leave him and they found him on the streets when he was 5 mts old! he only had 1 or 2 weeks left when we got him. i guess he got extra time cause he was so friendly. i just love him to pieces and if i ever met the person who dumped him and abused him when he was under 5 mts old they wouldn't want to ever come within 55 feet of me again (that is if they were still able to move) |

| Ahhhhh you all are so sweet helping out at the shelters! I cant even count the number of dogs that have been just dumped by our house thru the years. Just makes me sick. Little puppies, older dogs........once we found a mama and two babies right in the middle of a corn field, mama was chewing hard kernels of corn off corncobs. Looked like a skeleton. We placed the puppies and kept mama since we figured no one would probably want her. She is 14 yrs old now approx. and the sweetest lil girl. ANother time we woke up to two 4 month or so old puppies laying on our front porch. We placed one and kept Clyde. Hes around 10 now and a good watch dog. Then their is Annie I have no idea how old she is........BUT OLD! Found her running frantically back and forth by the road chasing every car that went by looking for her owner. Then their is Becky the beagle who we found yrs ago freezing in a snowdrift along the road. Those are just a fraction of the dogs that have passed thru here. I just dont know how people can just dump a dog out and say "see ya!" SO sad. Sometimes I feel guilty for raising dogs since their are so many unwanted ones out there. I think all my yorkies have went to excellent homes but ya just never know. I pray they are loved and never dumped or mistreated without my knowledge. |

| I'm from Tucson, Az. and they have a station that shows animals up for adoption on Sundays. They have a real good adoption rate. Maybe you could see what it would take for something like that in your town? I don't know how expensive it would be but maybe a donation round-up could be worked out. |
