When I was in high school, I would volunteer at the Humane society during the summers. It broke my heart. On Wednesdays, they did the spay and neuter clinic. That was pretty cool since I got to watch. I also got to watch them remove a large bladder stone once. Mondays was the dreaded days and I tried my best to stay out of the back especially the dog area. You would walk by the office and there would be a 4 foot mountain of dogs that had been euthanized. It was terrible. This place didn't adopt out puppies since they were too young to be spayed/neutered.

Also, found out about 10 years later...there was a law suit/investigation of the humane society. Seems that the vet that did the spaying/neutering didn't put the animals to sleep for surgery. Instead, she gave them a shot to paralyze them, but they were fully awake and aware during the surgeries. Seems that this shot was cheaper than the anethesia. Sick if you ask me.

I know that a lot of people got into trouble but don't remember the outcome of everything. Seems as though they had to pay a hefty fine.
