Constantly shaking...?!?

Do you have any baby aspirin, this should help if it's pain or fever. You can crush it, put it in something yogurt or cottage cheese, maybe he'll eat it. Or if he'll eat puperoni maybe you could push it inside and let him chew it. Please keep us updated, if you can. It would be best to find an ER Vet somewhere that could actually check him over. Good luck, I hope he feels better soon.

His vet gave me some pain meds on Wednesday and I tried giving it to him but he wouldn't let me come anywhere near him with it.

Maybe the shaking is after effects from the anesthesia, but it seems a bit too late for that. Make sure he's drinking, even if you have to do it from a little eye dropper. I agree, get something, anything in him so he doesn't go hypoglycemic. If he'll tolerate it, tuck him under your shirt and try to keep yourself calm so he'll relax. My Mugzy shakes when he's scared, as well as cold.

Well, I was finally able to find a hospital where I can bring him in immediately. My husband is now getting Buttercup and my son ready to leave. Yes, we have to get READY! because it's about an hour and a half away. None of the clinics here in NW Houston would take him in so I'm going to Sugarland where he is more appreciated and where people care about him. I will keep everyone updated on his conditions.

We got home from the clinic about 45 minutes ago. What a night!?! Well, it did turn out that he had a fever, his ears were infected and also the area around his stitches were infected from him licking it so much. We were given antibiotics and also some meds to flush his ears out with. He still isn't eating much but I'll work on that. I would like to thank everyone for their help.

BTW, I have one more question. How long do I have to wait to give him a bath? He was neutered on Wednesday and for some reason he smells really bad. The smell is so bad that when you walk in my house it smells like spoiled milk that has been left out for a month.

I had a feeling it was his ears, they always shake when their ears are bothering them. The smell could also be from his ears, stinky! I think it's too soon for a bath, especially if he has a fever/infection...wait on the bath!!! Sure hope the meds work real soon, and he gets his appetite back. Good for you for finding a vet that would see him at night and a weekend...May just want to keep that posted somewhere, in case of an emergency. Best to you and your little one!!!

I'm glad you were able to get him in to a vet. I have always been told when they shake they are in pain. I wish dogs could talk and tell ya where they hurt at. But it's up to us to get to know our pets and know their personality and know when something isn't right.
Just like when I took Louie to the vet for his shots, and I knew he seemed tired that night, which the vet said would be normal. But the next day he was way worse. He wouldn't eat, drink, take a treat, go for a walk, nothing. He would go potty but you had to be persistent with him. Then when I got home from work, he wouldn't even get up. Thats when I called the vet. I knew that this was not Louie.
When I took him in, they said he was having a bad reaction to his shots. So he had 2 more shots to make him better. By the evening he was back to his old self.
So I'm glad this all worked out for you.

He is doing a lot better as we speak. He is eating at the moment, and he is eating A LOT!!

Hi. Give him some nutri cal or corn syrup but PLEASE call the vet. He is probably in pain and needs pain medication. When my Bella was spayed they did not give her pain meds. I was told she did not need them, but guess what she did. She shook quite a bit. When I had Noel spayed (Diff. vet same office) he gave pain meds and we had no problem. Shaking is a sign of low blood sugar or pain. No reason for him to have pain - they have medication for that. Good luck. Elaine

Will the other hospitals take him if it is an emergency? You can tell them that it is an emergency, and that he's shaking constantly or that he's throwing up everything, including water,etc....and then when you get there and in to see a vet, they won't care - tell them the true symptoms. (That's an old NYC trick because nobody will talk to you on the weekend unless it's an emergency, so we always make it into one).

I would feed the pup-peronis too if he's eating them, and sugar water.

So glad your little one is better. My Lacey shakes when she is frightened or sick. I'm sure the ears are the reason for the smell. You could take a warm cloth and gently wipe his face, not enough to wet a lot, but be sure to then wrap in a warm blanket and I'd hold him. You could put the cloth in the dryer for a minute or two. Don't go into the ears, just gently on the outside. I always have success with boiled chicken and white rice when mine are sick. I always keep Nutical on hand as well. I cannot imagine your area not having a good vet. Mine gave me her cell number in case I need her after hours! Oh, and don't reuse the same cloth area, I rinse, rewet and fold one over and over.

I just read your post from when you got back from the vet. Thank God he's okay and being treated. Poor little baby! If he's stinky, maybe you can just take baby wipes and wipe him down gently. I wouldn't bathe him yet if he's infected.

Having an emergency vet is something worth knowing...We don't have one here, in town, but I'd drive an hour or more if I have too. The one and only time I needed a vet at night...she had her cell phone turned off, I was not very happy. When I called the office the next day, to see what I "should've" done, they apologized and said it was turned off by accident...What if there had BEEN an accident...I would not have been able to reach her that night. I was fuming mad...
