well there is your answer!!! those people are retail and it is all about making money! i can't believe the prices of some of their services compared to what i pay my vet. my neighbor took her dog for it's first shots - $85. i paid only $21 at my vet! i would not take romeo to them for anything!

| You guys are all killing me!! Do you know that I paid $620 yesterday for Truffles spay?!?!? I'm in California but what a difference! Vixxen and Lexxi were around $400 each almost 3 years ago. I paid "extra" for a "safer" anesthetic that is easier for them to come out of (which I think is bull that they charge for this), plus blood work, microchip, 2 meds to go home with, the collar which I won't use and the 10 teeth pulled @ $10 per tooth. Crazy huh? But I knew she was in good hands and did want her regular vet to do it and not some other clinic.... So you guys all made out good in my eyes

| I am with LoveMyGirlz! Big bucks at the vet where I live. I paid over $500 for JoJo's neuter, 4 teeth pulled and a microchip. Gucci is having 4 teeth pulled and it will be over $300 but that was after his check-up of $182 which included pre-op blood work. I felt a little sickish afterwards! But I love my vet and the office is the cleanest I have ever seen and they are so attentive I can't imagine switching. I started off some place else and although they were cheaper we did not have a good experience.

| Ok, I paid that much also, BUT, Percy also had seven teeth pulled, and that price included everything, hearworm, neuter, pain meds, antibiotics, follow up, and then teeth. If it was just the neuter it would have been around $150. And yes, I think I overpaid.

| Prices down here are like that too! Most places charge over $50 just to see the vet, not including any tests at all. They wanted to charge $400 for my mom's male to be neutered(not including taking out puppy teeth) which is MUCH less invasive than a spay. Those prices are ridiculous in my opinion. Maybe there's a city nearby that has good vets with cheaper prices. Miko's neuter was done when we lived somewhere else, so his was around $100 including gas anesthesia, pre-op bloodwork, etc., I believe. And Emma was spayed before I got her, but I guarantee they didn't pay that much for it.

| Maybe there wouldn't be so many pets in shelters being euthenized if the prices for spay and neutering were lower. Many people cannot affort that. I had two of my dogs neutered about 6 years ago for 60 each. I had a third done 2 years later after my vet moved to a much larger building and paid 170.00. Crazy |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Just had Kenzi and Jill spayed and Jack's teeth cleaned. Here's my bill: Jack ~ $256 ~ teeth cleaning Jilly ~ $422 ~ spaying, 1 extraction, cleaning and Distemper/Parvo shot Kenzi ~ $384 ~ spaying, 2 extractions, cleaning Oh, and they threw in the "complimentary nail trim". Whoopie!!! Total bill ~ $1062.00 I called around to get quotes from two other vets in town and they were comparable. Even called our state vet teaching hospital and they were more expensive for the teeth cleaning and slightly cheaper on the spaying. But with an hour and half drive it was not worth it.

| I don't know of any Vet. that would have the nerve to charge that much. YOu don't need to get her a heartworm shot and age has nothing to do with the price. Please call your local shelter and ask where you can find a low cost spay neuter clinic, or maybe they will even do it for you and it's generally around 65 to 80 dollars tops. I'd be finding me another Vet. too. |
