Am i a horrible parent for not wanting kisses on my mouth.

No mouth or face kisses in my house either. One of the vet techs at my vet office lets them lick her mouth and she just keeps talking and saying how good the puppy kisses are and she even kisses them in the mouth....yuck! I told her that Hannah eats poop, not only her poop but any poop she will find outside, she said she didn't care, I asked if she was afraid that she would get worms or something, she didn't comment on that one.

It's all up to the individual. My Mother was from the old school & never kissed us on the mouth, it was always on the cheek. I remember going over to my brothers house when I was younger. They fed their dog off the plates. My mom saw this and didn't want to eat over there again. Instead of being rude, she just offered to bring paper plates to save on dishes. This worked. She would have a fit if she was still alive seeing me & my babies. Not only do we give kisses on the mouth, I let them take kibbles from my mouth also. I brush their teeth & their mouths are a lot cleaner than past boyfriends that I kissed in my 20's. LOL

Honestly, I too realish in puppy kisses. There are some people I wouldn't kiss, since I don't know where their mouths have been either. And dogs do have cleaner mouths than people. They have enzymes that break down bacteria and their saliva has healing bacteria.....but, then I'm the woman that welcomes each puppy into the world, by kissing their eyes and mouths. And nothing they do disgusts me....but that's me.

I don't kiss other furbabies on the mouth, just mine & if they ate poop FORGET IT.

I totally understand where you're coming from. Before I got Chloe, I was totally grossed out by dogs trying to lick me, sniffing my bottom, putting their cold, wet noses on me, and I could not understand people letting their dogs lick their faces and mouth.

Of course, now that I have Chloe, I don't mind her doing it. In fact, sometimes she has to "earn" a toy or treat by giving "mommy kiss." Mostly because her kisses aren't wet at all. It would totally gross me out if they were slobbery. But I don't want other people's dogs licking me.

What I really can't stand, is when you pet someone else's dog, and then you realize that dog is in DIRE need of a bath. You get a dirty, greasy hand after that. When that happens to me, there's my hand, all contaminated, held away from my body, no opportunity to go and wash it, with me silently thinking, "now, what am I supposed to do with this hand?" ...phoney, pained smile on my face...

I get licks all over my face from all of my zoo, big tongues, little tongues and kitty tongues that feel like sandpaper. I love them all. Yep, I am gross. Love kisses from my children also, and my husband. LOL. Kissy family that we are.

My boyfriend lets our dogs bathe his face. Sometimes the licking goes on for minutes at a time and he lets them both lick his face simultaneously! It is cute and gross all at the same time. I let the dogs give my face/lips a quick lick now and then, but I refuse to let them go crazy on me. Sometimes Michael will open his mouth just because he knows it grosses me out! I don't think denying your pup kisses makes anyone a bad parent. As long as you can still cuddle and love them, who cares!

I have heard about dogs having cleaner mouths than humans but after seeing the stuff they do i can't warm up to it. I dont kiss much humans either

All a matter of what you can accept or can't. They'd have to have cleaner mouths than humans, how else would the be able to survive what they do put in their mouths.

I don't think your a bad mom for not letting them kiss you on the mouth, it's everyones preference. Rocky LOVES to give kisses, so I let him (like others said, some dogs mouth are cleaner than some humans!) My bf on the other hand though, doesn't allow it. Sometimes if my bf is sitting down watching t.v or something, Rocky will sneak up and give him a quick kiss then run away, it's the funniest thing ever!

No mouth kissing for me either! I have heard allll the stories about dogs mouths being cleaner than humans and all but im just not buying it. I had a girlfriend once who had a big huge st bernard and his mouth was always dripping with this awful thick slime and she would let him drink of her soda cans and stuff!!!!! I used to get so grossed out!! Ugggg. But to each his own I guess, this is just my personal preferance and if some people want to get kisses from their babies on the mouth then more power to them.

Yup I am gross too...lol I love when my babies give me kisses! Well I'm teaching mine a little spanish and Timmy understands me I tell him give mommy kisses in spanish and he goes for it!

Like everyone else said its your preference and you are not a bad mommy.

I don't allow face kissing not just because of germs but they typically are so hyper while kissing and I prefer them to interact with people in a calm manner.
