My boyfriend lets our dogs bathe his face. Sometimes the licking goes on for minutes at a time and he lets them both lick his face simultaneously! It is cute and gross all at the same time. I let the dogs give my face/lips a quick lick now and then, but I refuse to let them go crazy on me. Sometimes Michael will open his mouth just because he knows it grosses me out!
I don't think denying your pup kisses makes anyone a bad parent. As long as you can still cuddle and love them, who cares!
