I have 3 girls (8,5,and 3) and they are extremely gentle with my pup. We sat down and explained a few ground rules to begin with like no picking up or carrying the puppy and always sitting on the floor. Also I am now babysitting my 6 month old nephew who is learning to be gentle. So far no problems just lots of kisses. Good Luck!

| wow, i didn't expect so many responses and opinions... but hey.. thanks!!! Everyone is right in their own way and I completely believe in a breeder having their choices to whom to give their pups to... I mean, they are initially their puppies right? However there are many stories I've heard where "bigger" dogs have hurt children as well, children hurting dogs... my friend had a mix schnoodle and took him camping with us. One of the little boys (not purposely - just didn't know anything about dogs) wanted to play with "Pino" and was dragging him on the leash... you can hear Pino choking... definitely not a good sight... we quickly picked up Pino and told the boy that unless he's gentle, he will not be able to play... Anyways, kids are very smart... they absorb information like sponges... so I believe that if / when i'm ready for kids, they will just have to learn to be good with my little Missy... but i'm definitely not holding off on having kids because of Missy!! lol My bf says that when we have babies, He'll be left with Missy since I won't let him touch the baby anyway!! HAHHAHA Thanks again for everyone's input M.

I had 3 children when I got my 1st yorkie. 6 ,4 and my daughter was 6 months old. So my kids learned real young how to sit on the floor be gentle and nice. When i had my 4th child My daughter and Sassy were 4years old both fascinated by baby. My daughter I had to watch like a hawk because if I wasn't looking she would try to pick up the baby. One day i was laying on the floor with the baby and Sassy on the blanket and phone rang I got up to go answer it and I told Sassy to watch the baby if any body came near the blanket she crawled so my kids didn't dare touch the baby, She never had her own babies but the last two real ones were just like hers she protected them. We don't think she would of bit them but we never found out. She was just doing her job watching the baby. How Precious is that... She lived to be 14 years old it was a very sad day at our house, She has a big cross with a leigh on it ( My son bought it in on our vacation 2 years after she died with his own Money the one she would protect) in our backyard by our play house because that is where she spent her summer days with the kids "RIP MY Sweet baby girl Sassy"

I have mix feeling regarding this matter. One day My Honey and I took Pheobe to the park, and there was one couple and their baby I think the child was like ten month old, well we pass by and the child got so happy with Pheobe, that my Pheobe (she loves kids) went and say hi, the child pick up Pheobe by her two ears and Pheobe scream (of pain), the couple was telling the kid gentle, gentle (did kid didn't know gentle) I almost had a heart attack. Other kids are gentel with her others no, and if a kid is not gentle with Pheobe I tell them to be gentle or I walk away with my dog, and the parents end up giving me dirty looks so if I ignore the kid that is making a big deal of my dog I get dirty looks too, I honestly don't know anymore what to do , regarding this matter because I don't know if the kid is going to be gentle or not.

My son is 20 months old and my little Nicky is 6 months old. Everything has gone great, but we make sure to watch my son when he is around her to make sure he doesn't get rough with her ro grab her. We also have to watch Nicky because she constantly bites at his little feet and hands. She looks at him as her playmate. Can't wait until she has lost her baby teeth.
