| Second Yorkie? I'm struggling with the idea of getting a second Yorkie. I adore my little boy, he's pretty well behaved and seems pretty happy, but a little bored. I wonder how he would react to a little playmate (he's a very spoiled Mama's boy!). I also worry about the extra work the second one (especially when it comes to housetraining) would entail -- as well as the increased noise factor (I live in a condo), though my boy is NOT a big barker but he barks more when with other dogs. My boy is a year old now: When would be the best time to introduce a new puppy? The new puppy would be a girl and hopefully a more passive pup than my little Alpha Man! Is there a single person out there who has two Yorkies out there who has successfully integrated the second one into the family? I'm single and have no kids, so it's just me and my little Archie.

| I am not single, but I did decide to get a second Yorkie when my Louie was just about 1 yrs old, and it is the best thing that I have ever done. Although Bella is a little yapper when people come to the door and Louie kind of learned that from her, so he will yap now too, but not as much as her because he is such a mellow little man lol. I brought Louie to the breeders with me to introduce him to Bella before I got her. They seemed fine together, so we all came home together and when we got in the house I put her in the "playpen" thing I have and let Louie sniff around and check her out a while. After a while I put him in there with her and they played fine so I took them both out and they have been best buddies ever since! Good luck to you in whatever you decide, and please keep us posted!

| I was single and living in a duplex when I adopted Toby at 4 months. I adopted Peanut about a year later (they are 5 months apart in age) and it was not easy at first. Toby did NOT like Peanut. I had to keep Peanut in the expen and he would walk along the side of it growling and barking. I introduced them slowly and supervised only. By the second week it was as though she had always been there. They are the best of buddies now, in fact they are curled up together sleeping. I say go for it, but just know that there may be an adjustment period.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I just added a second Yorkie, Pixie who was 13 months old when I got her last month and Cali is 21 months old. I also have a 10 year old pom. I thought Cali would have been happier to have a playmate but her nose is a little out of joint. But everyday they seem to play/fight a little more. She wasn't housebroken so it was a little challenging the first couple of days but I am so happy I got her. I always wanted 2 yorkies at the same time and didn't want Cali to be too old when I got the second one. I would go for it!!

| I've been debating another Yorkie for quite some time. I worry that Jaxon wouldn't like 'sharing' all the attention, but in many ways I think he'd love having a full time friend. How about we make a deal ......I'll get a 2nd if you get a 2nd??!!??

| We just got a second yorkie. Maxi is not happy at all. He is 6 years old and part of me wonders if I made a mistake . Coco is adorable , but truly is a puppy. She is used to being around littermates and others. Maxi has never really cared for other dogs. Everyone tells me that they will get along after awhile. I really hope they do... |

| I wish it was that simple! I also worry that I will not love the second dog as much as I do Archie (who I am mad, mad, mad about!). My best friend had two dogs for several years (not Yorkies) and while she loved both, she clearly was partial to one of them. I'm already partial to boys (both doggy and human!) and I'm afraid I might not be as attached to the girl. Archie and I am super bonded.

| I got Darcy last May and was thrilled to have her mostly to myself all summer. Last fall when both of my kids went off to college, I thought Darcy might be lonely as I had to go back to school too. We decided to go for it and get another Yorkie. Although I wanted another girl, I couldn't resist Rocky. He's 5 months younger than Darcy, (and 5 ounces bigger), and is a little "big man". He is very dominant, taking Darcy's toys and is a little rough at times. I'm hoping that since he is only 7 months old, he will calm down soon. I love them both dearly and would do it all over again. Double the trouble, but double the love.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Maybe getting one that is a year old would be better so they are more settled. Pixie is 14 months and plays some but does settle down nicely and that helped with the adjustment.

| In Nov., we got a 4 mo old girl when Chico turned a year old. Chico was and still is a very high energy, 9 lb dog and the center of our universe. But we thought he needed company while we worked, so we decided on a second one. Bitsy is much smaller at 4 lbs and an absolute sweetie. Chico was a little snappy with her at first, but they have always played real well together. Sometimes she's the boss and sometimes he is. I love that she is sweet and cuddly and I love that Chico is a wild little guy. We feel we have the best of both worlds. |

| i got Walker (3.5 months) last week after having Troy (4 months) for a month and a half. i am not single and i have 5 skin kids ages 8, 5, 4, 1.5, 7 months... so my attention is already limited. getting Walker was a godsend because now Troy doesn't require all my attention cause she has a playmate. Walker is being crated to potty train so when hes not around Troy is with me.

I was very, very nervous about bringing another baby into our home because I didn't know if I had it in me to love another baby as MUCH as I love my little boy - but I was soooo wrong. I love them BOTH! For some reason I just didn't think I was capable of that, lol. I guess I just love him soooo much, that I felt like I didn't have enough love IN ME to give to another baby. But now that I have HER, I most certainly do I was also SO worried about Stedman (my little boy) being jealous of the new baby, because as I said, Stedman is a TOTAL mommas boy. And I will tell you for the first couple of days he was pretty jealous - but he LITERALLY warmed up to her in LESS THAN A WEEK - and now they play CONSTANTLY! I swear they just love each other to pieces and are already the best of friends!! And, mind you, I have only had Tatum (my new little female) for 10 days Stedman is also EXTREMEMLY well behaved and is not a barker. And I too was nervous about all the extra work - because I am LITERALLY doing SOMETHING (whatever it may be) with Stedman ALL the time! Whether it's playing with him, changing his clothes, brushing him, cleaning his teeth, cleaning his ears, bathing him, blow drying him, letting him outside to go to the bathroom - you name it! I am ALWAYS busy doing SOMETHING with that little guy! lol. I honestly didn't know if I would be happy doing everything I do with him, TWICE when we added another Yorkie. But honestly - it's not that bad. Once you have them, you just love them so much and you'll do anything for their little butts Anyway, I just wanted to reply and tell you to PLEASE not be scared about adding another baby into your lives. For a while there, I was soooo scared and sooo worried about it that it LITERALLY made me SICK at my stomach just thinking about bringing her home I know that sounds TERRIBLE - but I was just so so nervous and scared because I didn't want Stedman to feel left out or have his feelings hurt The feelings that I had alone were almost enough to make me back out of the whole situation, but I decided that I was just being overly nervous/scared, and paranoid - and that everything would be fine - and sure enough, it is! They LOVE each other soooo much Good luck in whatever decision you make - but I did want to point out that you DO sound ALOT like me (almost so much that it's scary LOL) and after only 10 days, my two are doing just WONDERFUL together! So hopefully that will help put your mind at ease some Good luck and if you do decided on adding to the family, please post pics for us to see when you get her!

| We just went through the same thing. Zeus is 3 1/2 and is an absolute SPOILED little boy. He really is our baby! We decided to get him a sister and she has been with us since Sat night and I am so very proud of my little guy. He really surprised me and has been so accepting of his little sister. They are not best friends yet, but I can tell it is only gonna take a little while and they will be. He hasn't snapped at her or acted out in any way. We are struggling with the house training, as Enja is used to having a doggie door, but overall she has been great about letting us know when she has to potty. Right now we keep them separated during the day until we are sure they will be ok. I say go for it! Zeus has been much more active since Enja arrived and he seems really happy, which is what we wanted! Everyone I have talked to says it is so much better with 2 or more and I have to agree!
