I was single and living in a duplex when I adopted Toby at 4 months. I adopted Peanut about a year later (they are 5 months apart in age) and it was not easy at first. Toby did NOT like Peanut. I had to keep Peanut in the expen and he would walk along the side of it growling and barking. I introduced them slowly and supervised only. By the second week it was as though she had always been there. They are the best of buddies now, in fact they are curled up together sleeping.
I say go for it, but just know that there may be an adjustment period.
