| Puppy fruit I just read the "constipated from banannas" forum and it reminded me to ask you all this. Do any of you have an opinion about feeding a dog fruit and veggies? My mother swears by it. She fed her toy poodle a bowl of cut up fruit and veggies (apple, orange, raisins, carrots, and broccoli) every morning for the dogs entire life and she swears that it helped keep her coat glossy, her skin from getting dry, and kept her from getting cateracts when she was older. Is there any truth to this? When Syd gets off of puppy food should I start doing this? |

| I give Biddy carrots from time to time. They take her a long time to chew on - and I'd rather give her that than rawhide. She really enjoys them...

| I don't know for sure if it helps medically I'm sure someone will though. I do know a lot of people on here feed veges to there pup. Mine gets carrots, which she loves and sometimes greenbeans. Usually we use the carrots for training and treats and rarely gets any kind of dog treats. I've heard that the carrots are good for the digestive system. Also when I go to chick-fil-a(Its a southern fast food chain) I get fruit and if Reagan's in the car with me I share it with her. I would just make sure what you are giving her isn't harmful to her. I believe there is a post on here that lists a lot of the things that are toxic for dogs, so you may want to check that out first.

| I don't really know if this is a good thing or not...but I was in the supermarket and I deided to ger Maximus some baby food to mix with his kibble....HE LOVES IT...I give him the peaches, apples, carrot, and pears......it's like a little treat for him but I only give him a spoonful every other day or when he is being a really good boy..and he make mommy feel bad for leaving him with his stinky dady while she was at work |

| I feed my boys fruit and vegetable too. They love the fruit, almost any kind. I don't feed them grapes, I've heard that is not good for them. Vegetables they love, especially green beans. No onions! But don't give them too much because if you see that their stools are lose you have to cut back. Mine only get a tad each day as a treat...Theresa & The Boys |

| Do bananas really get them constipated because Toto eats less than half a banana every other day and i don't notice that he's constipated. He doesn't really care for greenbeans. But he sure does love his carrots. He gets cut up baby carrots every morning with his dry food. I have never noticed him getting the runs either. I believe if fruit & veggies are healthy for us they are the same for them. I don't give him the things he's not suppose to eat but he does love his fruit & veggies.

| Mine get fresh veggies every once in a while.. and they do get baby food too. But I don't do it too often because it loosens their stool sometimes. Some other stuff to watch out for are grapes, raisins and broccoli.. they all are known to be bad for dogs. With broccoli, it is safe in small amounts, but if more than 10% of their daily diet is broccoli it can cause problems.
