| I give them raw carrots. They like the crunchiness. It takes them a while to chew them - so it keeps them busy!

| Dogs can have garlic. It is actually good for them. It also helps with fleas. If you go to the recipe site in another thread she uses a lot of garlic with her bulldogs.

| I have had good experience with carrots and Simon! He has a very sensitive belly and has had 2 tumors removed but he loves carrots and they agree with him! Don't be alarmed when their poop is orange though (sorry to be so graphic)! I give him both cooked and raw though he prefers them raw and crunchy! |

| Lucy hates veggies so we disguise them. She gets a roast on a sunday and all her veggies, meat and gravy are mashed up together so she has to eat them! Mum also cooks her her own stew without the onions which she loves but again must be mashed up. Why can't she be more like everyone elses dogs! |

| Snoodles gets a couple little pieces of apple, green peppers, or orange or red ones, carrots, etc. She will eat any kind of veg or fruit. I am going to the vet next week and will ask him. Everytime I cut up stuff for my birds, she is right there. I did hear once from my vet that carrots had too much sugar for them, but will ask again. I don't give her much, only about two or three little pieces. Loves watermelon a lot! Pat |

| I have heard that grapes and raisins are toxic to dogs as well as onions and apple seeds. |

| Syd started her friut "lunch/snack" this week and loves it. So far baby carrots, apple, orange, and bell pepper have gone right down. She wasn't too thrilled with the green bean...but she ate it. Tonight we are going to try a cherry tomato and see how that goes. Maybe I'm just imagining things...but her eyes seem brighter since we started. |

| Actually this was very cute: About 3 days into the fruit/veggie trial runs, I made some strawberry shortcake for my fiance and I after dinner. The strawberries had sugar on them so there was no way I was giving any to Syd. But there she was on her Daddy's lap sniffing the bowl and looking at him as if to say..."Mommy lets me have fruit now. Didn't you get the memo? Can I have some of that?" Now she begs for anything that is a fruit or veggie...and gets really excited when she sees me open the crisper drawer in the fridge. |
