My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | I'm going to go "LOOK" at a girl tomorrow So I'm going to look at a little girl tomorrow. She's 11 weeks old , mom is 7lbs , dad is 4 lbs. She is guessing this girl will be 7 to 8 lbs. She said she had a beautiful silk coat, dark colors, black and golden red, just like mine are. She said her ears are not standing so she has them taped and doesn't know if they will. (both mom and dads stand) She said she should have taped them sooner, although she just started this week. (floppy ears shouldn't bother me, right?) Anyways, I'm looking to add to my breeding programand I wanted a larger female. The parents are duel registered and the pups are CKC registered but she said she'd register the pup AKC if I wanted. So that means I'd have to wait for that paperwork, which scares me a bit. She's very well priced and very close to my home. What's everyone think??? |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | I think you should look... Why should any breeder do dual registry unless we're talking about CANADIAN Kennel Club? Why didn't the breeder just register them with AKC to begin with? Something doesn't seem right here. Why does this breeder think she'll be between 7-8 lbs? How much does she weigh now? Standard is under 7 lbs. Anyway, you're just going to look. You've been around a while and know what to look for. Good luck...and leave your money at home (at least the first visit!)

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | can't hurt to look. inquire more about the the registry for hte parents and pups and the duel registry. I'd also question the weight of the puppy more. You don't want to breed a yorkie that is over the standard weight. she might very well produce puppies that are even larger then she is. tho she very well could throw smaller pups too. its a gamble.

| Boy that was fast. I thought you was going to take your time? lol I hope she the right one for you. If you are planning on breeding her, Take your time, dont be in a hurry, Or you might end up with a girl not in the standard. I would ask why they was CKC when they could of been AKC. I know some pups ears dont stand. But some do and at a very young age, My AKC boys ears stood at just weeks old. Good luck with your search. |

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | From my understanding, this pup is not "show" quality and was being sold as a pet, therefore its less expensive to register thru CKC, but said if the buyer wants the pup AKC she will register her thru there, but the people looking only for a "pet" wouldn't care if it was AKC or CKC. |

| Minnies Breeders Female was CKC and her Dad was AKC so they got CKC papres for the male and that made the pups CKC. Sonow the lady with the male has AKC and CKC for her male and she can go either way. Hope that helps explains it more. |

Girl, do not buy a CKC pup because it cannot be registered wwith AKC unless both parents are. i know this for a fact. Also, do not start breeding a floppy eared dog if you want to be considered a serious breeder. I have one with floppy ears (pup). I am shaving and taping as well. All littermates have had ears up for a long time. All parents and relatives for several generations back have all had erect ears. BUT, if I cannot get her ears to stand, she will be spayed and sold cheaper than my others with limited registration. I'm sorry, I know they are cute as can be but i don't like them and it is my opinion that they shouldn't be breed. | |

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Thanks everyone I'm here to learn and educate myself so I appreciate everyone helping . I'm just going to look. I know what I'm looking for, and I won't settle. As far as the AKC/CKC thing, both the parents are duel registered and she will register her AKC for me. The ears...I'm going to have to take a look at. I mean I had to tape Brodies too and his are perfect. Her coat is very silker , per the breeder (which I'll see for myself) For size I am looking for 7lbs. At 11 weeks....what should this pup be weighing to come out to be 7lbs. Can someone give me a guideline???? |

| I would estimate that an 11 week old pup weight should be around the 3 pound range in order to get at or close to 7 pound full grown size. Good Luck!! about the floppy ears , I wouldn't just close a door to it as my "Miley" had ears very floppy , and now they are perfectly up, but it will be a risk as they may go up or it could never happen. |
