Help- Shes driving us CRAZY! Chewy is normally the sweetest little snuggle bug who loves to cuddle and give kisses. She is a ball of energy and loves to play with anyone. BUT what i have started to notice is for about 5 minutes every day usually in the evening when everyone is home, she freaks out. She starts barking and yelling in a really angry way and runs up and bites people quickly and runs away. This goes on for a few minutes and then she comes down. This is starting to drive my parents crazy and i cant do anything to calm her down. She usually attacks their feet, yells and growls at them. It was cute at first but it has been weeks and she literally does it every day. I dont know what could be causing it. Shes not hungry and not tired...what else can it be??? Any advice would be very helpful because this is totally out of her character and i dont know what to do. Thank you

She is very bored. Sounds like she could use a brother to play with.

| I think because she was made to think it was cute at first, she had made it a habit. It sounds like she's getting aggressive with it and she just needs to be tamed. You can try a loud clap and a loud stern voice and tell her NO! Clap down towards her so it's loud enough to startle her. I have read on here where people have used a spray bottle to agitate their pup. This would make some of them stop misbehaving to. Is she old enough to be spayed yet? Good luck with her, she'll be ok.

She definitely sounds bored and is playing. Ours every night runs the Indy 500 through the house, grunting, huffing, yipping everything. She does it for like 5 minutes then wears herself out. I would say to take her for a walk after dinner and she'll probably be too worn out and tired to do her nightly playing.

I agree....I think she's bored also. Mine do that and we will let them out in the back yard. They will take off and race as fast as they can around and around. Mine like to play keep away with a soccer ball. Really tires them out.

That does not seem like bordom to me. Why would she be bored when everyone is home? I think she is beginning to show signs of dominance, and someone in your household has to assume the role of pack leader. If there is no clear pack leader in the "den" the dog will take over the job. It sounds to me like she is scolding everyone for being gone all day. Not because she is bored but because she thinks she is the leader and you don't leave the "den" without the leader. Watch some Dog Whisperer and learn how to become the leader. It really has nothing to do with the dog, it is the humans that need to change.

Thank you all for your advice! I would also think its because she wants to play but i try playing with her when shes like this and she doesnt even pay attention to me. If at any other point in the day you throw a toy shes drop everything and chase after it. Is seems like she is trying to show her dominance but shes only dominant for those 5 minutes of the day. The rest of the day she mostly listens to what she is told, was fairly easy to train and doesnt bark much. So i dont know but it does seem like shes trying to show her dominance. As for getting her a little brother...I WOULD LOVE TO. Im hoping to get another one towards the end of this year because im planning to move out of my parents apt. I dont think i can get another one right away but i want another little girl ASAP. I really want to see more of the dog whisperer but i dont have the national geographic channel so i've only seen a few episodes that are on his website. He definately has a way with dogs but i cant use a lot of his advice right now. Im in NY and its like 20 degrees here so going on long walks is out of the question. I hope she gets more used to my new schedule and calms down a bit. She doesnt respond to yelling or smacking her tooshie but i will try the spray bottle tonight. Actually now that i think about it she does this even when i'm home all day. Today i'll be home all day but trying to study. Thank you all for your ideas.
