| Help! Lucy is jumping her gate! Oh boy, she's really a handful! We were out the other day and my daughter in law went to my house to let the girls out. She called me and wanted to know if they were supposed to be in the kitchen..... well, Abbie is allowed out while we're gone, but Lucy isn't completely housebroken, well, not even close....so she is confined to the litchen. Anyway, she wasn't in there but rather out wandering the house! We figured she must have used her bed for a springboard so we tried again, this time with her bed in the middle of the floor. We came back 1/2 hour later and she was out again. We haven't been able to catch her but she jumps very high and we figure she's jumping and climbing her way over. She's afraid of nothing! Has anyone dealt with this before? I don't just want to get a taller gate because I'm afrid she'll fall from a higher place and besides, we have 2 openings into our kitchen. I hate to crate her for long periods. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Donna

| We have this problem with our miniature schnauzer and the only solution that we found was to stack on gate ontop of the other while we were away. Hope this helps.

| Yokies can jump like a cat! I also had the same trouble. At 16wks Buddy jumped over the baby gate I put up across the kitchen. I would put bar stools in front of the gate so he could not jump and he somehow still got on the other side. I went out and bought another gate and stacked them one on the other. Problem solved! It looked like a pit bull was blocked behind those double gates. Carol & Buddy |

| I have had this problem, but have corrected it. I have a puppy 6 months old who I do not completly trust. I was using a completely gate and that little stinker figured out how to climb up the gate and over, he also would jump over it and if I raised it he would go under. He is completely fearless just like my 5 year old son maybe thats why they are such pals. I bought a taller child's gate and put plexi glass on the inside so he could not climb that worked for a while but he figured that he could jump over if he jumped high enough. I now use the gate with the plexi on the bottom and have the other gate on top of that one so that it is tall enough and that he can not get out while I am running errands etc. - Parrish

| I don't believe you, Lucy looks to innocent! lol My coworker took her cell phone and sat on the stairs to her family room. She recorded her 4mth old yorkie hopping or should I say sprinting over the gate. I was like So now she went out and purchased a higher gate. She says he's climbing the new one like spider dog.

| I don't have that problem, but I have a freind that has 9 yorkies and she put a wooden screen door up. It looks real good she painted it and it has decorative wood on it. At first when she told me she had put it up I thought it would look goofy, but it really looks good.

| My little yorkie/jrt mix Emma does this ALL the time. I had to stack two gates one on top of the other and even then sometimes she can "scale the wall" hehe. |

| This is so funny! It's nice to know I'm not alone in this situation! This morning I crated her while we were in Church but that won't work for longer times. I love the idea of the screen door but don't have a place where that would work and like I said, I'm afraid of her climbing over a second gate as well and falling. She's only 3 1/2 pounds! I may end up with an exersize pen with a cover to keep her in. Oh DH is going to love this...not!

| No matter what I create Ajah seems to get out of. She'll push stuff around and flip it over to climb on top of. The door Idea seems cool. |

| Part monkey My pointer you can put a 2x4 on the ground he will not go over it he will stay there all day. but by golly I can put PepperAnn in the fenced in yard and she can climb like a monkey. so I do not leave her out long unless i am there....the lady i bought her from she was 8 months old then she keeped her in a room with a baby gate and she couldnt keep her in there. she sold her because she lived smack on a highway and she could get off the porch. i noticed she only scales the fence when i am outside doing things with out her. I have 25 acres and probably 6 of it in front of the house before the road so i feel safe but i have goats chickens horses dont want to step on her.

| Today she climbed a five foot gate!!! Well, I told my husband I thought she was climbing rather than jumping but he convinced me she was just jumping and getting her front feet over and pulling herself on over the gate. Tonight we went out to dinner and put two gates up, one above the other for a total height of five feet. Sure enough, we came home and she was out. There is no way she could get through or under. She HAD to go over. Climbing that high is bad enough. I shudder to think of her jumping down from the height! Luckily she's unjurt. My husband just stood there staring at the gate saying,"I saw it and I STILL don't believe it!"

| Venus climbed out of the x-pen I made more than one time. This past week, I bought a baby gate on sale at Target. I think every gate they had was on clearance. I put it up, its made of bars, that kinda looked like jail. She walked through the end bars! I duct taped them, and I know I will have to get some plexiglas, cause she's slowly chewing the duct tape. Looks like I'll be ordering that plexyglas from www.harrietcarter.com. They sell 31"x16" for 9.98. It cost an arm and a leg at Home Depot. Its amazing how they will escape! I looked at 2 other baby gates, and knew she could climb one, and the other was too short. By the time I get her in this kitchen, without a way to escape, she'll be potty trained, lol. |

| We also joined the "double gate club." Chico never climbed over until we got Bitsy. So now he can climb out of the kitchen, but somehow can't climb back over back into the kitchen. Hmmmmmm |
