Her mom wrote me a note the next day that she never heard of such a thing. Geez --- under what rock have they been living? Even the major stores are not allowed to spray you anymore, and the magazines cannot have 'samples' in their pages anymore.

And I do not like shopping either ....

Maybe I'm just paranoid...I don't even like to take my dogs out to public places where people will want to touch them and pet them. Sorry, but you don't know where their hands have been. Even if your dog has been vaccinated, they can still get germs and bacteria (from people's hands) that can make them sick.

And, when you get a lot of dogs together (like Petsmart or Petco), you don't know that someone has vaccinated their puppy correctly. So many germs and such are air born. Sorry, but my babies can enjoy the treats that I bring home. They don't need to go out and be exposed.

.....but you know what? small dogs, esp cute lil yorkies, are fashion's biggest accessory. so why can't we shop and bring the little guys, they are part of the oufit . . .

Like some of you - I sure hate seeing our little dogs labeled this way. It is true - for sure, that a lot of people do see their little pets as a status symbol or accessory -- let's call it the "Paris syndrome....."

I definitely don't consider my dogs to be my children - they are my dogs - my wonderful, playful, affectionate, little pets. They are as cute as they can be - and they are very important, high-ranking members of my family. (What can I say - I'm single - it's just me and them.....and two birds - chirp chirp chirp!! ). Everyone loves my dogs. They certainly are very special.

I support this because (this is going to sound horrible but..) I'm allergic to dogs (hence the Yorkie! no allergies, yay!) and even getting near one makes me itch and my eyes water and I start coughing horribly. I even get annoyed when a person with a service dog comes into my vicinity..(I know I know..horrible!) just because I get so sick from it. You have to look at these people's points of views too, especially in a scenario like a super-crowded mall.
My 2 cents...take your dogs where they ARE welcome and no one would have to be escorted away lol..... if the whole country tried to sneak their dogs out shopping with them - there'd be more dogs than people out...Not talking directly to You Rae Rae ...if you were allowed in the past I can understand why you felt upset.

As far as service dogs - some abuse that privledge. To have headaches or something MINOR is not being disabled in the REAL sense of the word ... but yet people are certifying their dogs & I think many do this so they CAN take them shopping & get attention.

I love taking mine out but only where they're welcome. I don't take them on a regular basis cause then they expect to go with me everytime I leave the house and it's already hard enough dealing with the pouting lol

RedVett - I agree with you 100%. Let's take our dogs where they are welcome.

Plus - I think that if we obey the rules with our pets and make sure they are well behaved when they are out in public --- we'll find that they are allowed more places as times goes by....

At the risk of making everyone mad...... I hope that I never become so neurotic that I can't go anyplace without my dogs -- I don't think this is healthy for either one of us.

My dogs go a lot of places with me --but they don't mind staying home either. So - I have the best of both worlds!!!!!

I take Debbie with me almost everywhere I go. She loves riding in the car and I am not about to leave her in there alone while I go into stores. I keep her petote in the car and she stays in there when we go into stores.

As far as anyone knows, I'm carrying a purse. I can understand the no dogs rule. If they didn't have one, someone would be probably bring their slobbering St. Bernards into Charlotte Russe. I don't think you'd like to have drool on your new clothes. People with larger dogs would think they are being discriminated against. It's a tough call.

If your dog is little and stays quiet, you get yourself a bag and voila. No one has to know.

most places here in ny (like someone said) are really dog friendly as long as you hold the dog "or in a bag or stroller"
i went to subway (food place) and waited outside for my mom she came out and said the guy said me & austin can come in as long as i hold him

i dont see why bring a dog out if your gonna hide it i bring austin out to socialize him & so expose him to new sounds & places & to be with me
i dont bring him out for other people or to show him off
i know the places that dont allow dogs so he stays home
when going to a new place that doesnt have food i carry him or have him in the stroller i never ask when i walk in cause they will say no just to be nasty
so i just go in and shop & usally dont say anything

Whatever floats your boats, I suppose. People…ALL people, including myself...are going to make excuses and find loopholes and argue to enable them to do what they want with LOTS of situations…taking dogs places where they are not allowed is no different. I suppose it’s just because I don’t personally get it because 1) I’m sure any of our dogs would be happier snoozing on my bed than stuffed and confined to a purse while I shop and made to be quiet and 2) I don’t get the arrogance of thinking that one is above the rules and therefore entitled to do whatever they want at the expense of others. I just can’t quite grasp that concept, course, I make excuses for driving over the speed limit, but I’m not going to blame the cop and complain about getting a ticket either.

I tried to take Tinkerbell to Wal-mart and the greeder said I could not take her so I really haven't tried since that time. The other day my husband and daughter were going to go pick up pizza to Papa John's and Tinkerbell was crying for daddy, so Daddy took her and since the pizza was supposed to be ready for pick up I didn't think that he was going to take Tinkerbell inside the restaurant, well he did He said she was even barking and everyone thought she was adorable So I guess it depends on who is working there

Lol - girl - when I said 'get attention' - I was ONLY talking about people who truly are NOT disabled and want to be allowed in places that normally don't allow dogs via certification.

I didn't mean the average average yorkie person - we all love to show them off.

But..... there are some that take advantage of the laws. There is a big difference in someone who certifies their dogs for Anticipating seizures for example ...and one who says they get 'headaches' for example. If you can be out shoping and get a headache - what the heck is a dog actually going to do for you ??? If a headache was a disability the whole country would be classified as disabled

Now if someone was prone to seizures and a dog can sense it - that's totally different.

Just wanted to clear up my post

At work yesterday I asked my manager and she said she didn't get any sort of memo! But I saw a security gaurd and asked him and he said only service dogs, or if your taking the dog to the picture place. So the girl was like 75% right. He could've been my service dog, or maybe I was waiting for his pictures to develop. I guess it's a good thing that I rarely shop at that mall in the first place. I prefer other malls in this area, so it's not a huge loss

Hummmmmm....thought I would jump in......

We have tried to take Mojo in a few places, but they either had a sign posted or like at Wal-Mart, the door greeter turned us away. --that was the garden center. I have seen dogs in Wal-Mart before and at Lowe's (which, they even have a no dogs sign too).

I normally don't take Mojo to places where he isn't allowed and if we take him somewhere, we just leave. He has gone to some outdoor cafes before and the owners have always welcomed him and no one has said anything.

I understand allergies, etc. AND I know some people have little control over their pets (or just don't care) or have no respect for others....those people do ruin it for us that are respectful and have well-behaved dogs.

If a place does not allow small dogs, or dogs in general....there should be a sign posted where you walk in.....not where you have to have someone come and tell you to leave. I don't see if a small pet is in a carrier or held the whole time, where there would be a problem......other than allergies or pets that are not very well-behaved.

I too worry about what Mojo can catch from being around all the other dogs, etc. I never (EVER) let him walk on floors, anywhere - like the vet, groomer, PetsMart - I am just paranoid - plus, people these days.....you just never know why might be waiting to snatch up one of these little cuties!!!

Mojo is classified as my "son".......he is treated as a child and I see nothing wrong w/ that at all. He knows he is a "dog" though and is a pretty well-behaved - slightly spoiled, but a very nice little gentleman. I see nothing wrong w/ loving your pet so much that they are a big part of your life. After all, most doctors recommend getting pets to help your health and they become more than a pet that is there to help, they become a part of your family and a major part in your life.

I like to take a dog with me when I can.

I will take my girls with me to mall, (if I have them both) in the stroller. No one can touch them then. If I have only one I always have her in a bag, I don't let them on the floor.

If I go to Wal Mart, I go through the garden dept with my doggie in a bag. I do not go around the food area at all if I have one with me. It's usually for some toiletries or garden supplies, etc.

I have taken one in a bag into a restaurant when I was traveling, but closed in the bag and sleeping. I have had them in a stroller on a patio for lunch.

I know that people think I am nuts, but what the hey!! I REALLY don't care what they think. These are my babies!!
