Hummmmmm....thought I would jump in......
We have tried to take Mojo in a few places, but they either had a sign posted or like at Wal-Mart, the door greeter turned us away. --that was the garden center. I have seen dogs in Wal-Mart before and at Lowe's (which, they even have a no dogs sign too).
I normally don't take Mojo to places where he isn't allowed and if we take him somewhere, we just leave. He has gone to some outdoor cafes before and the owners have always welcomed him and no one has said anything.
I understand allergies, etc. AND I know some people have little control over their pets (or just don't care) or have no respect for others....those people do ruin it for us that are respectful and have well-behaved dogs.
If a place does not allow small dogs, or dogs in general....there should be a sign posted where you walk in.....not where you have to have someone come and tell you to leave. I don't see if a small pet is in a carrier or held the whole time, where there would be a problem......other than allergies or pets that are not very well-behaved.
I too worry about what Mojo can catch from being around all the other dogs, etc. I never (EVER) let him walk on floors, anywhere - like the vet, groomer, PetsMart - I am just paranoid - plus, people these days.....you just never know why might be waiting to snatch up one of these little cuties!!!
Mojo is classified as my "son".......he is treated as a child and I see nothing wrong w/ that at all. He knows he is a "dog" though and is a pretty well-behaved - slightly spoiled, but a very nice little gentleman. I see nothing wrong w/ loving your pet so much that they are a big part of your life. After all, most doctors recommend getting pets to help your health and they become more than a pet that is there to help, they become a part of your family and a major part in your life.
