| ![]() Gina, your place is beautiful. Since you live where it gets really cold too, is ceremic tile cold on the feet in the winter time? We've thought about getting the tile, but now that I've seen on here about the thick vinyl wood look flooring, I may look into that.

Our house is usually pretty cool in the winter time..so I don't think tile would be the answer for us...darn it!! It's so pretty. I use to have a little throw rug in front of my kitchen sink and stove, but can no longer leave them there. They think they are pee pads and I'd have to wash them darn near every day.

I have ceramic tiles in my kitchen and in my family room and yes it is very cold during the winter.. The rest of my house has hardwood floors, but these types of flooring is so much easier to keep clean... Btw Gina you have a beautiful home

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | ![]() We have the wood laminate flooring, but Magic & Sailor are trained to use the doggy door so we do not have alot of accidents. We do keep one washable pee pad down by the back door just in case. The rare times there are accidents we just wipe up and clean that area with lysol and hardwood cleaner. I think the laminate flooring would only be a problem if the floor gets wet and it sits for while. The laminate in our kitchen around the sink and dishwasher areas get wet at times, but we just make sure not to let any water sit for any period of time. We only have one bad place in our flooring by the front door, but that is from the way they laid the flooring not from accidents. (We had some previous laminate under that area that had been glued down and the company did not get it completely flat before laying the new floor...but of course they are denying all responsibility. ![]() I will say that the floor is cool in the winter, but we have adjusted to that part.

![]() ![]() he has Acute Emphysema & has declined to only 18% (or less) lung capacity ........from what the Dr's said - this is getting to organ failure levels ...so it's been pretty bad. When I see those pictures that just reminds me of him healthy - we didn't even know he had this disease when we moved into this house .....and it was only 2-1/2 years ago. ![]()

| ![]() I made the mistake of replacing all my carpeting upstairs with this flooring and if I don't see an accident shortly after it happens and it is near a seam then the seam absorbs the urine and makes it splinter. The engineered hardwood was a little cheaper than real hardwood floors but way more expensive then the laminate flooring. It looks just like real hardwood so we liked it better than the laminate. It's still easier to clean than carpeting but I was so disappointed that it wasn't more pet friendly. My hardwood floors on my first level are a breeze to keep clean if their is an accident. I wished I would have spent the extra money and put in real hardwoods. We have tile in the bathroom and I prefer the hardwoods for clean ups. Next house I'm doing hardwoods throughout. |
