No, I haven't received a reply yet, probably scared him off saying my friend would pick it up. I'll be sure and post as soon as I hear from him/her.

You know it's a scam when they just assume that no local person will buy it. If they are in GA then why not advertise there. I'm sure someone within driving distance would like to have one. Also they are always working international and there is NO ONE to take care of the puppy. Didn't they know they were working internationally when they bought the puppy. When you've seen enough of these you learn to recognize the signs. | |

What's so very sad is that these guys are making money hand over fist...it's obviously very profitable or hundreds, if not thousands of them wouldn't be doing it. They reach the average person by advertising in small town newspapers, etc....people wouldn't assume that someone advertising in their local paper would scam them, but that's how they work....and they try to cater to our emotions...trying to get us attached to a puppy that doesn't even exist.(I live in a smaller city in Northern Ontario Canada and they've even advertised here...on a local internet newspaper!) I'm so sorry for anyone who was taken by these crooks, the saying "caveat emptor"... "buyer beware" means so much in situations like this!! How wonderful it would be if the day would come that no person would fall for their ads and they would have to give up this scam. It's CRUCIAL that everyone gets out there and spreads the word about these crooks!

That is a pretty scarey scam.........and at first I wasnt even so sure it was a scam until one of the posters said they were scammed exactly this way, with an email very similair. The wording was a bit suspicious and not all questions were answered so it made you wonder........but what made me doubt it was a scam was the fact that it is expensive to advertise in the paper. Scammers usually advertise in free advertising. Whats so scarey about that scam, alot of people probably beleive its legit. I guess if you advertise in 3 papers for 75.00 each and get several takers on a ficticious dog for 1200.00, it was a very successful scam. Probably one of the most porfitble yet. Because alot of people probably go for this one. Last edited by luvdorkyyorkies; 09-23-2006 at 05:20 AM.

I agree these scammers must be stopped. I agree that screwing with the scammer can be great fun. And I am more than willing to do my part. Matter of fact, I have already started. Below is a response I got from a scammer and my response to him. This is his response to me when I inquired about Yorkie puppies: tai dan <puppiesage1@yahoo.com> wrote: Pls do see attache for the pics of princess and fendi. Thanks for e-mailing me,I am actually looking for a good home for princess and Fendi,i just moved down to cotonou, benin, since i got a new job overhere and not knowing the nature of the job would be too tight, i brought along with me this little cuties,I am actually regreting i did brought them down here because i don't have enough time to care for them.So i am looking for a good christian family who would love and take good care of 1 or both of them,I won't be asking for any money on this puppies i just want a good home for them, you would only need to pay for the shipment to your location. Princess is such a perfect name for this little gurl.she has the attitude of a little princess, even in the way she walks. she is very tiny. The perfect size and personality to carry everywhere that you go. At 10 weeks she weighs 9ounces.she is AKC registered and comes from a wonderful champion bloodline.he should mature at about 3 to 4 pounds.she has wonderful deep black points.she is current on all shots and dewormings and comes with a one year written health guarantee. I offer delivery to most major airports. The shipping fee for each is $400 and for both in one crate would cost $600 which includes airfare, crate, and health cert. I even take care of all the details you simply meet your new baby at the airport. I would be glad to answer any questions. They are both gentle-mannered and affectionate, yet playful and full of animation.Their Temperament: They are friendly, alert. Care and Training: Extensive coat care is needed for them. Shampoo once a week and daily brushing is essential. Special attention is needed to keep the eyes clean as staining is possible. Indoor activity with suffice for exercise, but they will enjoy a walk or a run in the park. Learning Rate: High, Obedience - High, Problem Solving - High.Ihope you have a wonderful time with your new friend and God bless you And this was my response to him: Hello, This works out wonderfully. I will be coming to West Africa in 7 days and I am staying in Contonou, Benin at the Novotel Orisha hotel. I will take both puppies. I will pick them up while I am in Africa. There will be no need for the puppies to be shipped, I will take them with me on my return to the US. I will make all arrangements for their travel and health certificates etc., during my stay in Africa. I will be in Africa at least a month so there is plenty of time for me to get all clearances for the puppies to leave Africa and come to the US. I have business in Africa and also have appointments with the American Embassy, there. I would like to get the puppies as soon as I arrive in Africa, which will be a week from today. Please email me back and I will give you all the necessary information so that we can meet and I can get the puppies. I would like for you to come to the Novotel Orisha hotel with the puppies and for you to be my guest at dinner. The hotel has a very nice dining room with good food. I can also introduce you to several of my associates that work in the American Embassy. Maybe they can be of some help to you with your work in Cotonou. I am so happy to be getting the puppies. They will be coming to a lovely home. Please respond, ASAP. God Bless You! Bet I do not hear from him again. Ha Ha!

Not a word. I did not expect any reply. But I have saved my reply to my hard drive and will continue to use it whenever I come across another scammer. Yesterday the Dr. Phil show was about scammers from Nigeria scamming women for money under the pretense of having a love relationship with them. At the end of the show Dr. Phil was saying how his show is going to focus on trying to stop these internet scams from Nigeria and asked viewers to write to him reagarding all types of scams from Nigeria. I wrote Dr. Phil my story. If I hear anything from the show, I will post it.

My dad was telling me about this site where these guys in America rip the scammers off. They say that they have this brand new laptop computer that they want like 300 for plus shipping and then the Nigerians send fake checks for $300 but then pay DHL 100 for shipping and they end up shipping them like a trashcan full of rocks. I'll see if I can find the site again.

I just LOVE your response to him .... of course their grammar and other awkward wording is a dead give away! I love the touch of inviting him to dinner. Please keep us all informed. Debbie (once again, BUY AMERICAN) oh, and if he answers you, tell him you can pay for everything because you recently received a lottery (or a HUGE inheritance you did not expect!) ....
