| ![]() I bought a cheap carrier from Ebay for Chachi and jewels when they were younger. When they quit growing and i had a better idea of what size to get i got a nicer one. You dont want to buy anything based on what the breeder gives you as a size estimate because its only an estimate. They could be smaller or larger you never know.

| ![]() Congratulations! I am so happy for you. Sounds like you are having a blast shopping and preparing. Coming from one who brought two pups home at an early age, and have since raised a litter, I would do everything I could to get your friend to keep your new Daughter for at least a couple more weeks. 10 to 12 weeks would be an even better age to bring her home. WHAT IS HER NAME? |

I sell my puppies about 10 weeks of age. I just placed a puppy Saturday, Monday she was 12 weeks. A very good healthy age to be placed. Here in California as well as other States, puppies have to be at least 8 weeks old. Do make sure she is eating on her own. Unfortunately, socializing skills taught by the mother is during 8 - 12 weeks of age. Most likely she will miss that. Good luck

| ![]() This thread is so long I might have missed something. It's better if the puppy is a little older even if they are completely weaned. They learn how to be a proper dog from their mother, litter mates or other role model dogs. This also makes them a better puppy, more receptive to learning. My Debbie was 10 weeks old when I got her. She only weighed 1.5 pounds then. The breeder did warn me about low blood sugar and told me to make sure she ate something every few hours. She told me to free feed her. We never had a problem. Debbie would look so pathetic getting one piece of food at a time and jumping back into her bed to eat it. The vet didn't like the free feeding method as it makes it harder to housetrain without a schedule. But who's advice are you going to take? The yorkie expert or the vet who deals with many breeds. Some vets don't know enough not to give a tiny breed all their shots at once. Luckily my vet did as I didn't even think about this. Lucky for you to be a member of this group. With so many members there is always someone to answer your questions and give you good advice. I hope your friend does keep that puppy a little longer for you. Tell her just how important it is. They require more work at this point and maybe she doesn't want to get attached to them but it would really help. |

My furkids Donating Member | ![]() I got Sadie at 6 weeks(I know.,..WAYYY to young) I wish I had asked the breeder to hold her longer...she was fine, didn't get sick however, she was not a good eater. I think she needed Mom a while longer. To this day she is a very very finicky eater. There were times (when she was a pup) that I had to hand feed her to get her to eat. Now Lillie I got at 8 weeks (she is now 12 weeks) what a difference that 2 weeks made! She eats like a little piggy! I think you just have to do what ever makes you feel comfortable. And Congrats on your new furbaby!!!

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | ![]() Ok here are my 2 cents we got Peeka and Boo at 7 weeks due to circumstances that couldn't be helped so yes they were early but i spent every second with him. First off get Nutrical and have it on hand i free fed Peeka ( and still do) so he kept his blood sugar up i also hand fed him so i knew he was eating just make sure you give Nutrical before bed just so she can make it through the night also my vet said they need shots every 3 weeks untill they are 16 weeks old. Be very careful where you take her and never put her on the ground in public till she's had all her shots Parvo is making a huge come back. As for clothes nothing fit Peeka and Boo even the xs but now they have reached 3 lbs at 18 weeks and they actually fit in small. If you can't get her to keep the puppy a little longer just be prepared for it you have to be home with her all the time till she is big enough to be on her own. Peeka did fine but i am a stay at home mom so it was easy to keep him up.I am no expert but i have learned a lot in the few months i have had Peeka so if you have any questions please feel free to ask me or on YT we will help you. Congrats and good luck keep us posted and i can't wait for pics!!!!!!!!!

| ![]() I got Little Bit at 9 weeks and not even a pound but I stayed with her 24 hours a day. I didn't even leave her alone to go to the grocery store. I gave her Nutrical regularly and mixed her food with puppy formula for the first week. She did get coccidiosis and received treatment for that & we went to the vet just about every week to get her shots because I insisted on her getting them one at a time. I did let her get the Lepto shot because my vet just insisted despite my reluctance. She is 5 months old and still hasn't gotten her rabies shot. We did have another problem that I have not heard mentioned on here. It seemed to cause her a lot of pain to have a bowel movement. We still give her just a little Lax Aire every few days. The vet told me to wean her from it but if she doesn't get it after a few days, she will just cry and run around in circles when she needs to potty. Aside from not wanting her to be in pain, it also makes the potty training sort of difficult. Good luck on your baby. It can be done. Your puppy will just need you a lot more for the first few weeks. Just watch her gums and energy level real close. I would only let Little Bit out for a short play time and then put her back in her bed to take a nap. God bless. ![]() |
