| Hello, I saw your post regarding what you paid for your yorkie. You said you looked hard and found one for $500? In CA? That's where I am and I have been checking around and cannot find any even near that. The best I see are males, maybe $800. I'm hoping to find a healthy female. I will NOT breed her. How did you find yours? It is very hard when you are new to yorkie world and get the initial shock of prices, though they are so adorable!!! I keep looking and saving for my baby. |

| Hi Maggiepie - I know your question is for Orinskye, but I wanted to encourage you. I paid $475 for my AKC registered male Yorkie in Chicago. The prices here are usually around $900-$1000 for a female and a hundred or so less for a male. If you want a female, you should be prepared to spend a bit more Orinskye and I did for our males. Stewie was originally more money, but the breeder told me that he has dry skin and that he would be willing to sell him for less to me. Plus, Stewie and I really bonded at his house and he WANTED me to have him and knew that I would take good care of him. I was prepared to spend about $700-$800 for a pet quality male and got lucky. Stewie is within the breed standard - his fault being a white spot on his chin and chest and has a silky coat. Keep looking. You'll find her.

| I paid about $600 for Jerry and I remember I had to search hi and low for him because I didn't find a breeder I was comfortable with. I actually wasn't super comfortable with this breeder. Jerry was sort of the outcast of his litter and seemed so sad each of the 3 times I visited him. She was running a nice size puppy farm in a very small house I believed she took care of the yorkies but she had way too many Michael |

| Local ads around my area is asking around $800 - $1000 CDN. You could probably talk it down. I would be willing to pay up to $1200 cdn for a show quality. |

| If you are just lookinh for a pet, not to show or to breed, I would say anywhere up to $650 maybe because that's what I paid. If you want to breed, I would say anywhere up to possibly $1000. I have no clue on show quality because I have never had the intentions of showing a dog of mine. Hope I helped! |

| I personally know that when I sell a puppy, no matter what price, I will take that baby back in a skinny minute ,at any age, that the buyer cannot keep him/her. Are you paying big bucks for that? Not really but it should be a consideration when picking a breeer. AND, NEVER will I try to talk a breeder down if I am buying and I do NOT make price adjustments or deal when I am selling a puppy. The potential buyer should be told on the phone in the first interview the price before I ever have them come to my home for the first face to face interview. Another consideration is, when you buy a puppy/dog you are buying more than a sweet little pet. You are buying the expertise and reputation of the breeder. The breeder should be there for you anytime you have questions either about the individual puppy you bought from them or any other dog YOU OWN! JMO |

| We paid £200 for Lucy which is about $370 and that was 3 years ago. I don't care if she is show quality or not. We knew she came from a good breeder as she has relatives in our area and they are all fine dogs. IMO I think some of these prices are too big and I would only consider purchasing a $5000 dog if I was planning on showing in huge shows and breeding. I do understand that raising show quality dogs must cost a lot and expenses must be recouped somewhere but I dont think we could have got a better dog if we had paid $10000 or more. I mean no offence to anyone, this is just my opinion |

| When I first got my female I was shocked to pay $600 but that was a family price. I see them advertised way up there, now it shocks me to see them under $600. My first litter just turned 6 weeks and with all of the work that went into raising them, and the time that a breeder has to spend with them I trully understand why breeders charge more than $600. Even if they are only pet quality. I know that if I was earning a wage per hour it would be less than $2 hr. Selling them is not about the money but there are expenses that need to covered. I think if people find what they are looking for for less than that is great for them. My females all sold for $800, I still have my male. They are pet quality with excellent pedigrees.

| Yes, I am understanding that a whole lot more now!! I've been corresponding with a breeder whom I may get my puppy from. She is great, answers all my questions with long detailed e-mails. I think I mentioned before that when you are a newbie to the Yorkie world, it is very confusing and sometimes frightening to hear all the various stories. There is good and bad in everything, so, common sense and lead with your head, not your heart I suppose. Someone had written that they (bad breeders) bank on the fact that when you see your cute little puppy you will fall in love and keep it regardless. Well, I suppose so. How can anyone not fall in love. I want to thank everyone here for being so helpful and all your advice is great! |

| Our first dog Kali cost 5.200 Dkr og Mare cost 5.600 Dkr because she was smaller (go figure). The dollar is around 5,5 right now, so it's just around 1.000 $ They both have books with genealogical tree, health papers and chip Now that we have them, I would say no price is too high - I love them

| We paid $750/ea non negotiable for each of our pups. They are 5 and 7 lbs, male and female respectively. That was last year and I think they have gone up considerably since then as they are in the top 5 most wanted dog right now. We just had our first (and probably last) litter. When you breed the small dogs, you are taking a considerable risk. It could be potentially very expensive if there is a problem. We were very worried that Zowie might have problems or we could lose her! All went well, but they are our pets, and as good as they are, I don't want to have a breeder house. It is a lot of work - with both mom and dad here, they have had to be seperated since about 5 weeks, we have cages everywhere and I have become a slave to the dogs now - pet one, pet the other, take one out, take the other out, move one, move the other - even with visitors, they each had to have their turn to say hi. And our pups are only one day old. Now everytime they go to sleep Zowie wants me to come hold her until she hears a squeek. If I wanted to sell my babies to strangers, I might think that a higher price might make the dog more valuable to them, increasing the chances of their having a loving and pampering environment?
