| Thanks for your post momofreese. I'm glad to hear she's doing fine other than the vomiting. How long has the vomiting been going on for? How long do you have to give her Pepcid? I hope it helps. Please keep us posted. Angel vomited twice this evening. I saw her heaving, and then she vomited in two different spots on the tarp. She didn't eat her lunch, and I fed her right after the incident. I'm going to the vet's next week to have her ears checked to see if her ear infection (yeast) is gone. I'll have to mention it again. The breeders I got her from told me before that I could give her 1.5 ml of Pepto-Bismol so I may try that. |

| Hi again: The vet wants me to call her in three days. She did assure me that this should stop her vomiting and that she would not have go be on pepcid for too long. We will have to wait and see. Reese has been having this problem on and off for the past month or two. She does seem to be fine even after just vomiting and runs right to her food and eats as if nothing ever happened. My vet also told me to try to split up her meals into three meals. That might help as well as giving her a little late night snack of her own food prior to going to bed. We also have her weight issue. She should lose at least a pound or two. I am also bringing back the IAMs weight management food. My vet said that I shouldn't have listened to the receptionist/nurse. I asked her to please not reprimand her. I myself should have known not to listen to a receptionist over my vet. I will probably change her back to the prescribed Hills RD food and see if it does help. I hope your puppy feels better. Please keep me posted as to how she is doing and I will do the same. Thanks again for your responses. Randy |

| Hi Thanks for asking how Reese is doing. She hasn't thrown up since the first night that we fed her the newly prescribed Hills RD food. She ate it so quickly that thirty seconds later she brought it all up. The nurse told me not to worry, since she inhales food and doesn't chew it and try to hand feed her a little and put rice into the next feeding to bind her. So far.. knock on wood.. she has not thrown up at all. I am still giving her 1/2 a tab of pepcid at bedtime. She seems to be doing fine. It is so great not to have to see her going through that vomiting. I still have to watch her since even without the pepcid she did have days without vomiting. I can't give Reese soft food since she is overweight to begin with and she thankfully doesn't have any issues with dry food. I am convinced she would eat tree bark if we fed it to her. What I also have noticed is that her breath is much better. Although Wellness might be very healthy, even though my vet doesn't like it, her breath stunk like fish. Now she has a "normal" odor for dogs and even some people. LOL. I might go back to giving her canned unsalted string beans which another member had recommended. They are filling and then she can get more vegetables. I am only feeding Reese about 1/4 cup of Hills 2x daily. I hope she will finally feel better and finally lose another pound or two. I am glad that Angel is doing better. If she is not overweight and is active then I am sure there is nothing wrong with soft food. Many members give it to there yorkies and they are just fine. I am glad she is not vomiting either. Lets both keep our fingers crossed and please do stay in touch. Thanks so much for writing. |

I spoke too soon about Angel not vomiting anymore. She usually poos after dinner but she didn't last night. When I woke up this morning, I saw she had a big poo. She normally goes in the morning. After I washed her bum, my mom held her while I changed her pad and checked her blanket, which was clean. My mom put her back in her pen while I got her food. I noticed a stain on her blanket, but I can't remember if this was before or after she ate. I assume she vomited while I was getting her food. I guess her stomach was really empty after she went potty. I'll have to talk to the vet about it when we take her tomorrow to have her ears rechecked. Thanks for the update. | Sorry to hear that angel has vomited again.. Hopefully it is just as you said, that her stomach was very empty. It is very difficult to diagnose our dogs. I usually breathe a sigh of relief when Reese goes one day without vomiting and unfortunately I will then hear her gagging or see a small spot again. The pepcid does seem to be working but than again who really knows. I too brush Reese's teeth, not as often as we should, but thankfully the vet said that her teeth are very good for her age. That of course is not due to my great brushing.. I suppose she has at least a good tooth gene. Let me know how the vet appointment goes. I am sure she will be fine. I will keep in touch as well. Have a very nice day. Randy |

| When we first brought our Hootie girl home about a month ago, she was doing this exact same thing. So, at her first vet checkup we asked the vet about it and she told us that as long as she was not throwing up yellow bile or food, and as long as it is just white foamy stuff, then it is nothing to be worried about. She says that sometimes puppies will do this when they come into the air conditioner from the outside in the heat or if they just get something caught in their throat. Hootie did it about 5 or 6 times the first and second week we had her and never did it again. The vet told us not to worry. So, I think you are good to go! |

I sure do hope Angel starts feeling better real soon. It will probably help her a whole lot to give her a late night snack. Sometimes when I don't eat, I feel really nautious, too! Hopefully that will do the trick and she'll stop vomiting. | |

| Thanks everyone. The vet says she thinks it's stomach acid buildup. She said to give a late night snack. We're going to try the food thing first, and if it doesn't help, she said she could prescribe Ranitidine/Zantac. For Angel's weight (she weighed 1.31 kg or 2.88 lb. on Fri.), she would have to be prescribed 3 mg by the hospital's pharmacy as the OTC doses would be too high for her. |
