Lowes has green vinyl coated wire that we built a fence around our patio with. It's $32 for a 50 foot roll of 36 in high wire. You could do it in an afternnon.

It would not be unattractive and it would resolve the issue peacefully.

My cousin is a fraidy cat too! LOL I told him not to worry. Whatever we decided to do, I'll handle the neighbors next door. He doesn't even have to be home. I even told him that if he wanted to keep peace (I honestly could care less) he could "apologize" for me. I know he'd only be doing it to appease them.

A lot of people have suggested that. I just don't want something to look tacky, you know? The wooden fence is beautiful, and I wouldn't want to ruin it (the look). Not only that, it's both issues: keeping Baby in and giving Matt more privacy. Thanks again for everyone's suggestions!

That's what my cousin wants to do...remain neighborly. Oh, and "helping" her dig is a great idea!!! I just don't want to get stuck either paying for a landscaper to do it (which I personally know like 4 of them, but that's not the point ) or having to do it myself. But helping her sounds great. I think I will add that to my "we need to have a talk about this fence" speech.

I'll look into that. As I said above, I don't want anything tacky that would take away from the fence. Oh, I forgot to write in my first post, she put up this little black plastic garden fence looking thing on only one of the openings (there are 4) that's about 4-6 inches high (similar to the one below w/o the hole in it). I laugh everytime I look at it. Like THAT is going to keep either of our dogs from getting into each other's yard! Your Lab and my nosey Yorkie! LOLOL Can we all say duh?!

Thanks for letting me know that! I had thought about that before...just building the fence "around" the trees. And then I thought, why the heck am I going to lose yard (it's not all that big anyway) to save face with them? If they can't be understanding about losing a pet, then I think we're gonna butt heads over more that just this!

No, we actually own the house, well, half of it. In my town they considered it a condo, but we don't pay association fees. We have to agree with stuff about the "common areas." So this is a common area, I guess (not sure). But LET her call the police! I'm bound to get someone on the force I know anyway! If not, I'll drop the fact that I'm a teacher in the town, and on the squad. That usually works. Our town is tiny as heck

leave the trees to keep the neighbor happy, and just put some mesh or chicken wire fence on your side, the lil one wont be able to get through, the tree branches on your side can be trimmed and the neighbor should understand.

couldnt you put up some small garden fencing to go around the trees to keep baby in? Do you rent? Maybe you should talk to the landlord, if you dont rent, then I say you should be able to do what you please to your side of the yard!

Can you go around the trees with some fencing. That way she still has her trees, but it's blocked so Baby can't get through. I'm agree with yougetthesmiles on the gardening fencing. That wouldn't look bad at all, and you wouldn't lose up valuable property.

That is a ridiculous way to have a yard! Wonder who thought the tree thing up; I personally don't like the way it looks.
