| Rottie vs. Yorkie The neighbors rottweiler attacked my yorkie yesterday. My yorkie was laying by the front door (I had the big door open and just the screen door shut) in the sun when the neighbors rottie got loose and broke my door to get at my little baby. There was a big fight. I was in the other room reading when I heard the comosion and went running in to see the rottie on top of my little one shaking her. There was blood everywhere. I was thinking that my baby was probably dead. I got right in there (getting bit by the rottie on the back of my leg) and scooped Kitty up. I pushed the rottie out the door and shut the wood door so it couldn't get back in. I checked my dog over and low and behold not one scratch on her. All the blood was from the rottie. I guess my little 7lb dog got the better of the 100+lb dog. I was so scared! |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Good! But if I were you, I'd be filing a complaint with the authorities just so the information's on file. If the rottie's attacked once, it'll attack again. If it were my dog he'd attacked....there would be a report filed against ME...cause he'd be dead Here recently, a dog jumped his fence into the yard next door, tore through a screen porch, attacked, and killed the yorkie baby who was on the porch

| Wow, when I first started dating my husband he had a cat (we still have him) who was attacked by a rottie and he won too! Maybe rotties are not that good at fighting But I think bchgrl is right, you should file a complaint...next time it could be a different outcome

| I did report it. I guess this isn't the first time this dog has attacked. I filed the report because I was bitten and it broke the skin and the dog did damage to my door. It bent the whole thing so it needs to be replaced. The neighbor is now filing a law suit against me cause her dog needed stiches to close some of the places Kitty ripped open. I'm not worried because her dog was on my property and atackeing my dog. |

Let her sue. Make sure you take pictures of EVERYTHING...the door and your leg. I'd also file a counter suit for damages and pain and suffering. If you didn't go the the doctor before, you need to now (as in TODAY) and make sure you get copies of EVERYTHING! This dog is dangerous!

(and for the record - I love Rotts. I have been around them most of my life, my friend breeds them, and I have wanted one for years but due to being disabled can not care for one properly. That being said, a dog's owner should be held completely and totally responsible for the actions of their pet. In this case, it happened to be a Rott. I wholeheartedly believe the dog should be put down and the owners sued. If it were me, that is exactly what I would be doing without any hesitation.)

| OMG!!! I bet you were so scared. I am so glad that Kitty is okay. And kudos to her for hurting the big mean dog. I would not worry about the lady suing you. She is just mad that her dog got beat up by a yorkie. It probably hurt her ego. As for her suing your, she has no leg to stand on because her dog was on your property and broke into your house. In Texas I think, if a dog bites someone it is automatically quarantines the dog for 7 days and the owner is fined. My friends dog bit a kid and her dog was quarantied and she was fined. But in that case the kid was provoking the dog. Last edited by Rockster's Mom; 04-19-2006 at 08:06 AM. |

| I did report this to the sheriff's office. We do not have animal control here. I went to the doctor too. I also took Kitty to the vet just to have her checked out. |

| I would definitely follow up on this with your own law suit. Not only did the rott attack unprovoked, damaged your property, but caused stress and mental anquish. Isn't there a leash law where you live? Seems to be laws broken here. Document everything in writing and pictures. Stress has a lot to do with ones health, so your health was also put at risk. I'd sue for everything they are worth!!!
