| I used to work for an insurance company. I know our HomeOwners policy asks if you have certain dogs, I know Rottweiler, Doberman, Pitt Bull, and I think one more. If you sue their insurance (which this is covered on HO insurance), they will cancel their policy if they do not get rid of the dog, just a thought!

| How scary! I'm glad you're all ok. I do hope you'll pursue confirmation the dog had a rabies shot. Our dd was brushed by a bat last fall & even though the chances of a bite were minimal, multiple drs recommended her getting the rabies series bc it's too late once symptoms appear. It's no picnic but the alternative was worse (can be fatal). We learned that rabid bats had become such a problem in our area that even our health insurance company was aware of it! Thankfully, they waived some of the ER deductibles as a result. Anyway, get a lawyer if you have to, but make them show proof if the bite broke the skin. Around here, vets must give a special id tag & keep the info on file so it can be checked, otherwise the animal is quarantined. From what you've described, I wouldn't just take that neighbor's word for it... |

I'm so glad Kitty wasn't harmed and sorry you were bitten in the process of saving her. Good Kitty for attaching. Lots of spitfire in those tiny bodies!!! Your neighbor is obviously grasping at straws here. Probably a last ditch effort as there are previous reports on her Rottie - she may have no choice but to put it down. I have always been told that once an animal tastes blood - they will always attack whatever they can. Fight long and hard for your baby and your property. Good for you for the report, going to the doctor and the vet. No doubt you will win!

| Update!!!!! I have an update on the court case. My neighbor has dropped her lawsuit and has settled with me out of court to pay all medical expenses and replace my front door. I also am going to be compensated for my pain and suffering! I am so happy! I am gonna spend the money on a new yorkie! Now to just find one! |

| Thanks for the update. It should be covered under their homeowner's policy. I hope you don't have any further problems with the Rottie visiting you though. |

| Congrats on settling out of court. If I were you, I would invest in one of those security storm doors...you know the ones with the ornamental iron to deter burglars and "rotties". You could be sure your baby could lay by the door and look outside and be safe from any wanna be predators! We can't wait to see your new baby!!!

| Oh my God! Go Kitty, how brave she is! Does she seem to have suffered from it, has it phased her at all? I hope not cause that could be something else you could mention in court that your Yorkie has suffered from stress. I got so scared when I read that there was blood everywhere, I didn't want to read on but then I saw that Kitty won! What a little fighter you have. I bet you're very proud! P.S) You do have a very good case. |

| I forgot to mention that I demanded the dog destroyed and I won that too! I feel bad for the dog but it wasn't safe to be in this neighborhood full of kids. The dog was put to sleep last Wednesday. |

| QUOTE: I am so happy! I am gonna spend the money on a new yorkie! Now to just find one..... ------------------------------ Sorry - but I still wouldn't feel good about any of this... another Yorkie -- and you still have the worst neighbors in the world. I can't believe that if that Rotti attacked a dog (and has done it before) that it might not attack a child one day. I'd be afraid to let my little children outside......or even near the front door -- let alone my pets. I seriously think I would consider moving. Normally, I wouldn't do this, but given your neighbors, I would seriously be looking for a nicer place to raise my animals and my children. And - I wouldn't be proud that my little Yorkie drew blood - I would still be angry and frightened about the poor little thing being in this situation in the first place. It is truly a miracle that he wasn't killed. Carol Jean |

| Glad your baby didn't get hurt, you are so lucky!!! I am so glad that you won the case. I feel bad for the dog but it putting him down was the best thing to do. Otherwise this could happen again and you might not be so lucky or he could have gone after a child!!! Glad things turned out the way they did. Let us know when you get your new baby!

| watch your kids closely I'm glad she is okay 2 weeks ago my 10 year old daughter rode her bike to the corner and back for the first time ever. A black lab had broken out of his kennel and lunged at her as she rode by, bruising and breaking the skin through her jeans! Next he went after her friend, a little boy and took him to the ground ripping his shirt. All the police did was give her a summons. The dog has been loose several times since, when the kids get off the school bus. My husband talked to the dog owner and she promised to keep him penned. Still loose sometimes! The cops have done nothing!! Watch children around that dog, in a split second their lives can change forever! keep furbaby close-I know you will. Sad.

| I feel bad about the whole thing... Quote:
I am sorry all that happened, and the aftermath was not much better either. I can imagine your neighbor is very sad at the loss of their dog. Putting a pet to sleep because it attacks can not be easy to deal with emotionally. I know that the need for revenge is strong when one is wronged, heck that is just human nature. I know you feel bad, and I would not be happy for having someone's dog put to sleep, either, knowing how I feel about my pets. You still have to live next door to these people. I can't imagine the bad feelings that must exist forever between you two. How sad for everyone.
