Of course, HEIFER is a rude word. Those of you who are a few pounds overwieght (which probably describes a lot of us) and who don't mind being referred to as a HEIFER are just fine - more power to you! But, terms like this do hurt a lot of people's feelings and that's why we shouldn't use them. A person's weight has nothing to do with anything. Some of the most wonderful people in the world are "overweight."

And - again as far as any encounters go that we ever have with other people regarding our Yorkies or anything else - I still believe being nice and polite will get us further than becoming defensive and bad mannered ourselves.

The way we behave defines the type of person we are -- not the other person. I would rather walk away from anything knowing that I was well mannered, polite, and MATURE ---than become like the type of person I am complaining about.

The nicest people I know and the ones I respect the most - would really just walk away. They may answer politely, but they wouldn't lower themselves to argue with a stranger in a public place. And - don't we all know that this would be the most disappointing reponse a person trying to start an arguement could get!!!! These people just love it if you argue back. If you don't, they almost don't know what to do........

I stated in my story that I will not be polite if this happens again, meaning this time I was not rude. Also As for answering in a nice way that what I did with her first reply. Then I turned away and kept walking and she kept directing herself to me. What was I to do? Runaway. I really managed myself pretty well for the way in which she was pushing my buttons.

I am more than a few pounds overweight, in fact I think I was the one who said unless you are over 250 you can't be offended, because I am not. Why must overweight, fat, heavy people be scared of words...Why give them that much POWER! I am FAT, or Big, or Heavy girl..I can go on and on...Do this mean I dislike who I am or the weight I carry..Heck Naw! I am not offended, getting offended means that 1 I am denying who I am, 2 that I am ashamed. I am none of these things....Life is too short to get offended by words...Especially ones pertaining to size...

Usually rude only understands rude... Should some people be allowed to get away with it while others aren't? One could argue that they don't respect people that tolerate rudeness.

And, Carol Jean, when you're so judgmental your argument against being judgemental becomes mute... Obviously there is a generation gap as well as a societal one, since the vernacular is lost on you, so let it go.
